No permanent way to play objective game types?

When playing MCC or other shooters I prefer modes that center around objectives, like ctf, but unlike most shooters, or even MCC the only way you can seem to play objective modes in Halo 5 is to lucky on a featured custom gametype (which often aren’t obj types or are a mix of slayer and obj types) or to sweat in ranked. Why are their commendations for these modes if they are barely around. Might as well add grifball commendations. This is the one game where something more goofy like infected is more available than an obj mode.

It would be cool if they made ctf and strongholds seperate for this game and hopefully they do that in infinite. I did not find getting the commendations an issue though as long as you play enough of the game.

If you want to 100% things like commendations, you have to be willing to play game modes you might not necessarily prefer. Including having to play ranked playlists to get objective medals.

Btw, just thought of this. BtB in social has a lot of objective gametype’s in the rotation.

I more just want to play those modes, I was only really bringing up the commendations to bring up how weird it is how they shun objective modes to some featured modes and ranked but still add incentives to play them (commendations).

I think as far as team arena goes, that mode has a mix of what is played in the hcs series. So that includes slayer with the hcs settings, and the objective modes.

Halo 5 not having a dedicated objective playlist is imo self explanatory. (Or I mean…it’s easy to realize why)…If that playlist existed, it would divide the players from other playlist and reduce the population in that playlist. What if some players want for example, a 4v4 objective but with the default settings including standard radar and all abilities on, some players that want 4v4 objective only but with hcs setttings, some that want slayer alone with hcs settings, some that want slayer with default settings as well. So you compare what the population would look like in that example vs less playlist that happen to feature more modes in 1. Everyone ends up playing it and just dealing with the slayer rotation now and then (or…in some instances its slayer 5 times in a row haha. )

So although In theory…it makes complete sense to have that slice of halo for that particular player…it would have been great at launch when the population was high. Right now all it would do is increase search times, increase the gap between players skill in matches even more because it would more than likely cause the search to opt for a less balanced match to accommodate the search time. We already deal with this as the game is now, so I believe it would probably only become worse.

That’s just my 2 cents though. Sorry if I rambled…I’m pretty tired.

Well MCC splits players in so many ways and that doesn’t kill the population of popular modes (like slayer) it just means some of the more niche modes can’t be found at non peak times. This can be seen in other shooters too, a variety of modes rarely hurts the most popular mode and often more just hurts the less popular modes the more options there are. And if we’re concerned about splitting player by having more than slayer, why does ranked have more variety of playlists than social and why does social have permanent infection as a playlist when most games leave that to custom games and featured modes but not have a permanent playists for some of the franchises most well known modes (ctf and oddball)?

Yeah there needs to be something done about that, playing too much Slayer in Halo 5 I don’t understand why there I isn’t enough Objective modes in Halo 5, I like to play something other than Slayer sometimes

That’s not a super accurate statement. If you have your composer settings to very limited possibilities, matchmaking in MCC takes a pretty long time.

You seemed to have maybe missed the point. The underlining point, is that the game itself has a low total population. MCC has a higher total population than h5.

If there was a social variant of each ranked playlist, every ranked playlist will have players pulled away from it, in an already low total population game. Then we would just have 2 similar playlists that have even less players in them.

As for social vs ranked…tbh man…in my experiences as well as MANY others…I hop on quick play for a warm up…the game pulls in champions…my team gets obliterated and I look at the ranks of each player…sure enough the other team has daimond onyx champ, mine has a silver plat and a low daimond range. This happens extremely often…and has to do with match making being looser on the balance. Doesn’t matter much if you search focus as I always do…and I’m not champ, not even onyx. I’ve been onyx ONCE and that was during PRE season…meaning it doesn’t count especially since the games ranking system seemed to still have underwent some fine tuning…nowadays I just hop straight into ranked dude. There’s still lopsided matches…but quick play is far worse…sometimes it’s skewed in your favor as well…I also almost never play alone. I find the game unbearable alone…but that’s a different discussion.

And also yes mcc splits many players. So much that the playlist I wanted to play couldn’t find a match after even 15 minutes. I Uninstalled it shortly after. This was 2 weeks ago.

Bottom line is that the best time to have playlists available in the scenario you describe is at the games launch. Everyone here knows this is what cause a drastic player retention problem. Trying to implement such a suite of playlists now would more than likely bring hardly anyone back and instead mess up the current populations for whatever playlist variants would become available.

I get that you want a dedicated playlist for objective. I mean sure I’d like one as well…I wouldn’t mind if team arena excluded slayer…but…I do like slayer so much more with the hcs settings because the radar setting makes for so much more freedom in your movement around the map and being much more unpredictable. So I don’t mind how things are as they are today…not to mention…dealing with spartan charge gets old very fast.
