Really, I’m shocked. I don’t know why I am - Halo 2 was only for Vista, and Halo 3 and up had no PC versions at all - but I’m still shocked, disappointed, frustrated, and angry that as a PC gamer who has been a massive fan of Halo, I’m apparently not respected enough by the studio to be allowed to play Halo 4.
I will not - nor will I ever - buy an XBox. Why? I don’t WANT an XBox. I won’t be forced to buy an XBox just because Microsoft has its head up its -Yoink- and won’t let me play it on the PC - on their operating system, no less. I don’t want to game with an XBox controller - I want to game at my desk, with a mouse and keyboard, the way gaming is supposed to be. I can understand certain games being console-exclusive - a lot of the games for the Wii wouldn’t work with a PC or a mouse. But First-Person Shooters work fine on the PC - they always have and they always will. I don’t understand why Microsoft has apparently collectively decided to say ‘F-ck you’ to the gamers who put it where it is. To the people who made gaming what it is. To the PC gamers out there who are bereft of playing good games because… no reason, really.
Will anything change because I said this? Will Microsoft change it’s policy? Probably not, no. But my extreme discontent had to be voiced. I am a gamer, and I do not console game. I am a gamer, and I want to play Halo. I would pay to play it, but Microsoft flat-out told me and all PC gamers that they don’t want our money.
I understand your anger, but you have to understand that it’s a business.
First off, don’t be upset with 343i. They are just the developer. It’s up to Microsoft to decide what platforms it’s released on. As for it being released only on console, it’s just a smart business move.
Why would you buy an Xbox 360 if you could play it on your computer? Heck, why buy ANY future console if all the major titles were released on computer?
The hardest part about PC gaming is the Microsoft doesn’t generate as much profit…
Sure, you may buy one of their operating systems. However, everything else doesn’t profit them. They dont make money off you upgrading your ram, graphics card, power supply, CPU, mouse, keyboard, HDD, etc. Thus, all they would make off of you is just the cost of the game.
It’s much more profitable for them to get you to buy an Xbox, for after you spend the money on the console, you’re very likely to buy MORE games to use the console more.
If you’re really into using Keyboard/Mouse controls, I would suggest using one of the various adapters. Currently, the XIM3 Adapter seems to be getting pretty good reviews and really minimizes deadzones.

Seriously, Halo CE and Halo 2 were the only two, out of seven, halo games to be released onto the PC. Which means that the last pc release was back in 2006-7. Why should Halo 4 be released on the PC? It’s obviously a marketing point for further supporting the xbox 360’s lifecycle.
It’s not business. They lose money, they don’t gain it. Do they really think people will buy the XBox just to play Halo? All they’re doing is depriving themselves of PC sales, not gaining more XBox purchases.

Saying that he’s “crying” doesn’t help. That can only agitate. He’s upset, and has an honest desire for Halo games to come to PC, as do many PC gamers. Unfortunately for them, that isn’t going to happen. Thus, we should provide alternate methods to help them out, such as suggesting Mouse/Keyboard adapters for the Xbox 360.

Woa now. No need to start all that. There’s plenty of argument on both sides of PC vs Console, especially when it comes to which is more cost-efficient.
To answer your question, yes, people will buy the Xbox just to play Halo. They have paid professionals that research and tell them this, and are much more knowledgeable on that matter than you or I. However, games do sell consoles. God of War sells PS3s. Zelda sells Wiis. Halo sells Xboxs. It just does. It runs the same way for PC gamers. PC gamers will buy new graphics cards to play the latest games. However, that graphics card purchase wasn’t just for that game. It’s for all games soon to come out, just as the console purchase wont be just for Halo. There are plenty of other console-exclusives that they would then be open to.
However, let’s please not turn this into a PC vs. Console thread. Let the thread be constructive rather than just a big argument. Ignore those that post non-helpful comments. Everyone in the world has Internet Muscles. No internet fight ever ends in a winner. The best way to resolve the issue is to just be the bigger man, and step away from the conflict.

Halo has 2 -Yoinking!- games on the PC, and at lest 7 or 8 on the Xbox, some PC gamers are a little niffed about no more Halo games on the PC. Hell, some of us are a little niffed about how the other members of the general Halo community treats us when we ask for another Halo game.

I’m not criticizing him for being a PC gamer, I’m a PC guy myself and I just built a monster rig and would love Halo 4 on it.
But it isn’t and probably never gonna be on PC so… you just gotta man up and get over it. It’s annoying sure, there’s a few PC games I’d love for 360 but I’m not going to make a thread about it.
