No party chat in the breakout gametype

I think Halo 5 should do like what call of duty did (and I hate that they are my reference for this) in there older titles where search and destroy or 2v2 or 3v3 made you go into game chat. This is because (opinion alert) I am tired of going into games and trying to talk to people but no one talks. I have noticed that halo is a game to where if you communicate well with your team then you can easily win games. No I know that won’t happen for every gametypes but breakout is a one life multiple round game type so I think it should work like that as to promote teamwork.

And there will be plenty of jerks around in matchmaking, mere talking would be enough to get many of them to start throwing insults and what not. No. And teams may still prefer going into party chat and talking to other people, or skype.

Exactly

If I’m forced into game chat then I simply will not play the game. I believe a lot of people feel this way. I don’t think that would be a wise move on 343’s part.

That’s not even close to how it works. All you’re gonna do is get people who won’t play that playlist. No one wants to listen to the garbage that gets spewed in game chat.

Sure, not everyone is a -Yoink!- but by and large, the vast majority seems to enjoy talking crap, using racial, sexual, misogynistic, whatever slurs. Or they play bad music down the mic. Or or or. The list goes on and on.

I would rather not subject myself to any of that so if I can’t play unless I’m in gamechat then I’m not going to play. Simples.

I think many are going to feel the same way

Yeah, game chat is there for a reason. If I’m using it, it’s for a reason.

Is there a link or any evidence to support your claim?

I do support forced game chat for some game types, for example I think infection would be incredibly fun with forced proximity game chat. I mean, we have a mute button for a reason, just mute people you don’t like. Simple.

That being said, I used to support forced game chat for some competitive modes, but I have realized that halo is not nearly as “Team based” as people make it out to be. If it were, forced game chat would most likely already be in the game. I mean, you look at a game like counter strike, you need actual teamwork and strategy. However in halo, the only “teamwork” going on is some map control and kill assist.

Maybe in more objective based playlists with maps designed specifically around the objective, I could see game chat being forced, but right now it doesn’t seem like it’s needed.

I laughed after the first sentence. And have you heard all the -Yoink- that gets said in gamechat. No one wants to listen to it. There’s a reason so few people use there mikes anymore

I think it’s much more simple for people to not be completely intolerant loud mouth jerks than it is for me to individually mute all of them one by one during a game.
You want teammates you can communicate with? Play with friends in a party. Simple.

To add to this, if people do decide to play despite the forced game chat, there is absolutely no guarantee they’d be using a mic. In the past on games like CoD who have forced game chat, I saw a larger increase in people just not using their mics at all than people who actually wanted to work together. Even then, those who worked together were almost always friends already in a party so, it just seems like such a counter-productive thing to be doing.

It’s even more counter-productive when you factor in people wanting to talk to friends who are playing or doing something else online.

This concept may work fine for games like CS:GO and whatnot but, in a game like Halo it usually means the death of a gametype.

Absolutely not, there’s no reason why they should do that. Everyone above me have already given great examples as to why that idea will fail.

What’s simpler than that is how those playlists will die even faster with forced game chat.

Forcing game chat for certain playlists will do nothing but make people not play that playlist.

There’s a mute button, yes. But if you have to go through and mute everyone every time… you’re just going to stop going to that playlist. Some people will just unplug their mics and not talk or listen anyway. If they don’t want to talk, you can’t make them talk.
Party chat lets people be comfortable and private, and in many cases serves the same benefit as game chat… just without the potential annoyances.

I’m sorry but no. If I want to chat with people I will chat with people otherwise I would rather just stay in party chat and talk with my friends instead of raging -Yoink- holes. If you want teammates to talk to in breakout get your friends to play or ask people on the forums if they want to group up. No need to force game chat onto people when it’s just full of vile people.

We could just have a mute all but friends option if it is too much of a hassle to mute people you don’t like. Sure it would be much more simple if some people were not loud mouth jerks, but unfortunately that is not the world we live in. Sure party chat works, but I would rather not be limited to my friends that don’t even play a lot of halo MM to begin with ( i’m pretty sure forced game chat in some fun game modes would encourage them to).

Playing with strangers can be fun, especially if it were in a mode like infection with proximity chat or something similar.

Unfortunately, it won’t happen. MW2 tried that and the world collectively threw a hissy fit that they actually had to communicate rather than discuss banal, insipid garbage with their friends.

I like forced game chat. I wish more games did it. Party chat (while an amazing feature) ruined meeting new people online when it came out.

If you’re just going to let them mute all, then what’s the difference between this and party chat?

yeah cause I really want to hear how much of -Yoink- I am, and hear that xxxXXMlgPr0SnipAxxXX -Yoinked!- my mother for the 50th time. Forced game chat is horrible.
