Hi guys i was just wondering what your thoughts are on this. Personally it really annoys me. I go into Arena to do my best and end up in a team of 4 where 3 of them are in party chat and obviously working together and im left on my own.
I always use a mic in the arena and i would like to be able to commuicate with the whole team even if they dont speak good english. i can atleast shout out there tag or something.
i dont mind party chat in MP but arena is more competetive and i think you should use team work more or you end up losing too many games.
Sorry for the rant, just had a bad day in the arena yesterday because of this.
Any thoughts?
It would be good for what you are suggesting, but am I right in thinking that the enemy players can still hear your voice in Arena if you don’t mute them?
I tend to run in Party Chat with a team on most playlists to avoid this problem, muting players every game is just irritating to do.
In the few games ive played in game chat ive never heard the enemy team in the Arena but i have heard the enemy team in MP so im not sure if theres a difference in the chat setup between to 2 game types.
I understand what youre saying though about muting others it is a pain in the bum. But no one ever wants to join a party if i ask, so im at a bit of a loss!
thanks for your coment though

You’d be wrong there.
I’ve never once heard my enemy talk in arena, ever, so I doubt that there is such a thing implemented.
Secondly, I don’t think you have to worry about the enemy team overhearing. In the beggining of a a game, before the match starts, you can hear your enemy, but the moment the match starts you can’t, no matter the playlist (if its a team based playlist.)
OP: I know how you feel. i run randoms all the time (simply because I have noone else to play with. But if you get into a group of similarly skilled players, enemy or teammate, and they’re just as good as you, send them an invite after the game. So long as you do well they are likely to join you, and then you can proceed and have someone with you to so you are no longer a random. Plus, that way you can always switch to game chat and you won’t be leaving any randoms in the dark.
Thats just how i see it.

If the enemy has proximity voice enabled, they can hear your through the TV when they are close by.
The only way to avoid this is by muting the enemy so they can’t hear you or being in Party Chat.
I will not be forced to talk to people I do not want to. Its one thing if the people that played xbox in general were comprehensible, older and more mature, but in arena i refuse to deal with people who think they are good because they spam the DMR and get bloom kills.
Thats obviously a stereotype, but you get the picture. If you disabled party chat i would unplug my mike and mute in game voice, and proceed to call my friends on the phone/skype.

There’s something called proximity chat where players (even enemies) can hear you if you are nearby. The 3-4 people teaming up are using “The Two’s trick” because it is almost impossible to find a match otherwise in Arena if you are in a full team because of it’s big party restrictions and low population.

This would actually be a means of preventing twos tricking though, wouldn’t it? Granted, it wouldn’t 100% eliminate it (as private chat still exists), but I’d bet it would hurt the amount of people who do it a little bit.
I agree with this. I think you should have to be in game chat to play in Arena. It would, hopefully, promote communication.
Disabling Party Chat in Arena matches would just result in no one talking at all; You’re giving away your position through proximity voice. The only way to counter that is to Party Chat or mute the other team. If players get muted too often, they get a Mute Ban, making it impossible to talk to their team in-game even if they wanted to.
Just send the players a message asking for a Party Chat invite.

I’m gonna have to agree with this cat and disagree with a lot of you. Some of the guys in my clan have mics that don’t work in game chat and can’t communicate with us otherwise. Otherwise we just prefer party chat as we can discuss thing even during load screens and so on. Why hurt an already dismal population?
