No opting out for player two?

Ok… I just had to sign out of xbox live because my husband moved from Mass effect 3 to Halo 4.

WHY??? Because halo forces everyone signed into live to join the game. I don’t like halo… Because I don’t like first person shooters. I’m bad at them. End. I don’t play halo. But Halo decided that I wanted to play. And there was no way (that I could find over the course of 3 days) for me to tell halo No, I’m just here to talk to my friends who are on xbox, playing with my husband.

Is there a setting in halo I’m missing? Is there some well hidden option that allows buddies to keep playing if one of them decides they need to use the can? Why is this even an issue? When did it sound like a good Idea for Halo to tell me what I wanted to play?

I regret purchasing this game for my husband now… It causes me rage every time he puts it in because it means that I have 10 minutes of fuming, disconnected from my friends while my husband has to Fight with the game to make it forget that I was on when we put it in.

Incredibly small issue.

Like, I am amazed that you took the time to come to the forums of a game that you don’t play just to -Yoink- about something so insignificant.

If your talking to friends, use a party chat. Tell your husband to stay out of matchmaking as it is standard practice to put people in MM in the same chat channel.

Xx R37h1nk~ Um… no it’s not small. It’s a fundamental need of a game that allows people on the same xbox to play the same game. The ability to leave the game and allow the other person to keep playing is something that allows for -humans- to do those human things they need to do. Like take a crap. >.> seriously. This is the only game I have to log off so he can play. Ever.

Lexandro Albion~ I am using party chat. And isn’t Matchmaking how my husband plays the game with other people on our friends list? We are on the same xbox, He can’t even play alone if I’m online. It automatically logs me into a game I don’t play because I’m in the xbox party instead of doing like any other game and asking if I want to join.

Fundamental need? It literally takes about 1 second to log in or out.

Who honestly sits around, not playing, and wants to chat with online gamers? Use Facebook or something.

Trust me, this forum whines about the smallest detail of anything you can imagine. And literally no one has ever mentioned this, because its a complete non-issue.

Exactly 0 people, other than yourself, notice or care about this.

If its that much of an issue for you, get a separate xbox…
then you can do whatever the flump you wanna do.

> If its that much of an issue for you, get a separate xbox…

lol’d at flump.

That is the lamest rant I’ve ever read. You can’t Chat with friends while your not Playing? Use Skype or Facebook, Let the man play his damn game!

Ok, lemme address this quickly. My husband and I share our friends. His friends by in large are my friends. He doesn’t talk to people online that I don’t like to talk to. Not because I’m a -Yoink- and scare off his friends who don’t like me but because I’m nice to everyone on his friends list. We have D&D tonight with the guy he’s playing with at the moment. I can’t skype with the guy he’s playing with… because he’s on the xbox… right now… playing with my husband.

Woodstar 22~ Honestly, there is no way that I’m buying an extra xbox and TV because Halo didn’t think about the fact that as long as second player existed they had to press start to join.

Xx R37h1nk~ “Player two press start to join” takes one second. Me logging out means that halo is going to have a fit and he’s going to have to restart the game. Yea it doesn’t take long but it’s an annoyance that explodes the game. It’s a function that -should- be second nature to every game.

Now this is going to sound bitchy… because it is. Am I the only person in this forum who plays games with people on the same xbox? Do none of you people play with people in meatspace? Cus that’s the only way I can see that this issue hasn’t been found…

If there was just a simple “leave game” option I wouldn’t be -Yoinking!-. Seriously. I want it, if you know how to do it… Tell me and you’ll never hear from me again past “Thank you”

Use the Kinect as your voice chat and then you can both talk with one profile being signed in, the voice will come out of the TV but thats the only way I see which will help you. Halo never has had that option and probably never will.

Then if you have no intention of buying a separate xbox, stop whining about it, it’s common sense that on a first person shooter.
As someone stated already, if you wanna talk to you friends while he plays his game, use Skype, Facebook, MSN etc. It isn’t that hard.

You’re asking one xbox to be 2 xboxes. If it’s that big of a deal, buy a second one. If you can’t afford it, don’t complain, you’ve got an xbox, so obviously you’ve got at least some money to spend on fun things, it’s not like you can’t buy a second xbox because you need to buy food that your food stamps didn’t cover. You at least have a choice, deal with it. You can always just save up a bit of money from each pay check. Or you could work part time at a McDonalds for a month or two, that’s more than enough money for a second xbox. Or if all you want to do is talk to friends, you could actually drive to their house to talk, or maybe just pick up your cell phone, or chat with them on the computer.

Also, the whole “Player 2 press start” thing is something featured in Fighting games, Not Multiplayer FPS

hangs head

Look. I’m not asking for one xbox to be 2 systems, I’m asking for Halo to conform to something that’s standard on all other games. I just want it to be convenient. This is the only game we own that does this…

And I might add… -Reach- didn’t do this. It Gave me the “press start to join” option.

Woodstar~ Then how does player two join on Golden eye? Cus… I’m pretty sure it did. Um… Borderlands 2 has split screen and I can be in the party and not be forced to play. So yea. I think I’m justified in my correlation.

Faviiky~ Halo Reach. Thanks for the suggestion but Kinect is not an option in our situation.

The xbox is from our taxes lat year, but I shouldn’t be forced to by an extra box or a huge piece of hardware because of -one- game. I’ve been in party for every other FPS he owns and never had to deal with this.

Oh i didnt realise about halo reach, i never play split screen unless we are both playing though haha :stuck_out_tongue: and no problem just trying to help i dont understand why everone is bashing on you… If they dont have anything to say that would help he topic why even bother posting. Obviously no one wants to buy an xbox to chat. These are probably all infants playing on xboxs their parents bought them.

Borderlands is an arcadey styles Shooter designed for Co-op, not a Multiplayer Online FPS,
Again, why are you moaning if you have no intention to buy another xbox.

If it seriously bothers you that much, buy another console.

I’m actually 21, Bought my own xbox, infact ive bought 3 xboxes and one of the main reasons i use it for is to just sit, chill on dashboard and talk to my friends

Faviiky~ <3 A Reasonable Person T_T. I’m kinda guessing what’s going on is Reach and other halo’s were Bunji, a relatively venerable company… and this new company is… well… New… I actually never expected a bunch of people to know about this because few people play split screen on any game… but it’s a really nice feature that some games still offer. And it’s nice that it’s there… but I just can’t imagine why it is that they didn’t make it easier to oppt out…

face palm Woodstar, You’re right. It’s an arcade style multiplayer. Lets split these hairs. It is a game with guns from a first person pov, where you can play with other people online and you can split screen it. As opposed to a game where you can play with friends or split screen in first person pov. Thank you for reminding me of how different they are. >.<

> These are probably all infants playing on xboxs their parents bought them.

Im in my 30’s, bought my Elite 3 years ago and pay for everything myself. I still concur with those above, buy another xbox or chat with a different device/system.

you may be able to play with people online, but its online “co-op” not online multiplayer, there is a difference in the two.
