You would only have to pay if you bought it used, which is perfectly fair considering devs/publishers don’t get money for used games.

i know, but there have been games that i’ve been interested in but didn’t by because i had to buy the game, then pay even more money to play it after buying it, if i didn’t pay this extra fee i won’t be-able to use the game at all leaving me down £40 …

So you didn’t buy a used game because you would have to pay an extra £3 (or whatever your equivalent to $5 is) to use its online features? It’s still less than new games (in most cases and if it’s not just buy new and not worry about it) Some of you guys act like online passes are the evil of the game industry when that’s not the case. The real evil is that companies like GameStop or Game in Europe don’t have to give a percentage to devs/publishers. I hate online passes but that’s what its come to because the used game market has become big enough to warrant it.
I didn’t even expect one. I actually didn’t even think about one. 343i wouldn’t make such a stupid mistake.

Only in the case of those buying used. Because they are mad they got a discounted game only to find out they have to pay an extra 5 dollars. I hate online passes but I understand why games have it.
