I think this is a big reason why halo, and console games in general are just dying. I remember when it was odd to see someone without a mic, it was even kinda frowned upon, but now people automatically just mute everyone, and never use one. What kind of BS is that? This has been a team based game since the beginning, plus it’s so,much more fun to play with people who are talking. These days the only way people talk is in a party. The “social” maps are just unranked matches with more people. This is ridiculous. Does anyone feel the same or are you just another one of those people who heard a few trolls and gave up on being a human?
I feel you.We should bring back the days where we would respect and communicate to win in matchmaking.I believe communication is key to wing matches.I find it annoying playing and not talk to anyone. It feels like the spirit of online matchmaking is dying.

You aren’t remembering things as they actually happened. Microphone usage has always been rare, the majority of the people who do use mics have always been people you didn’t want to talk too, and there has never been a point where the majority of people playing the game were nice and offered a ‘gg’ after every match. Contrary to what your nostalgia tells you things are the same as they ever were.
I only prefer to talk to clan members and friends.
I’ve been on XBL frequently since 2011, and I really don’t think mics were ever super popular. The majority of people who actually use them blast music, or simply cough into their mics, and I don’t really enjoy that so I mute everyone automatically. I only use mics when I’m playing with a party of people. Also I’m not really down to talking to strangers if there isn’t much point to it.
One time, in a Warzone Assault match, I called out a Plasma Caster that I dropped when I was killed, and I actually got hassled by two teammates for it. That’s right, mics are only for putting someone down when they’re playing Halo the way that it was intended to be played, apparently. I’ve also had matches where my team was quiet until I started complaining about their lack of cohesion. Why even bother putting a mic in to yell at me for being frustrated by the fact that nobody on my team is communicating?
