No one can hear me in game chat

Hi, I don’t know if this is the right spot for this, but for a while now for some reason no one can hear me in game chat. My mic is on and I see the mic icon move, but apparently no one can hear me. Any idea why? I also apologize for my first post being a bug fix. 11 years of playing and I guess I never got around to posting here.

Also, I should add that I’m using a pair of nice earbuds in place of a gaming headset, since mine broke. Does Halo have an issue with earbuds?

Thanks

You sure you aren’t switched to Party Chat when you play?

I’m positive.

But that makes me think of that thing in these games where your mic is automatically muted if enough people flag you (?) or something. I’ve noticed some people in Reach and 5 are muted by default, then I unmute them and they usually have some sort of disruptive sound. But I’ve never had anything like that.

Come to think of it I think I even had this problem with my Turtle Beach.

Has anyone else experienced this?

How do you know people can’t hear you in game chat and simply aren’t using mics of their own? Are you playing with friends in a party but all using game chat instead of party chat? Did you test by going back and forth between party chat and game chat?

I would check your XBOX privacy settings, I had a similar problem a while back, my wife had changed some settings, and that is where my problem was.

I apologize for not responding; I forgot about this thread.

In case anyone else has this issue, my workaround for it was starting/joining a party, then switching to game chat. Talking in game chat without a party just didn’t work. This never happened to me until I started using earbuds as a headset, so that may be connected.
