I get Odst’s were converted to Spartan Iv’s well the majority were . But the UNSC messed up . Odst’s were greatly effective because they had the ability to be hot dropped into combat whereas Spartan Iv’s dont. Didn’t the unsc realise it was a mistake getting rid of odst’s. Now they have no Hot drops .
They have greatly reduced the amount of tactics they have now in ground firefights. Odst’s could be used to ambush as well as turn the tide in ground wars with their ability to be dropped behind enemy lines.

What is a HEV?
I think the ODST’s are still there just like how the Marines and Army are still there. I do miss them though and HEV is the pod.

Oh right my bad, I still miss the ODST’s though , A big mistake in my opinion to get rid of in Halo 4 .
Forgive me if I am mistaken but don’t spartans also drop, just with no pod. I belive they have something called armor lock. Cheif used it when he fell to earth in halo 3. In reach on the spire I think he told 6 to lock his armor when there falcon was crashing. Again forgive me if I am mistaken.
And why can’t Spartans IVs be orbital dropped in drop pods ? ODSTs were the special ops troops of their day, everything evolves just as Navy frogmen of WWII evolved into the SEALs of today.
I’d like to see them drop in to counter the Elites dropping it.

Spartans can’t just jump through the atmosphere. John only survived his jump to Earth because he locked his armor and used a piece of the Forerunner Dreadnought as a heatshield. Noble Six had a special pack on called a Re-Entry Pack. Even locking your armor won’t guarantee your safety.

How silly, you can’t armor lock mid-air.
Jk… Still, I think that by locking armor, Jorge on Reach meant a built-in mechanisn on the suit to survive through intense trauma.
What we really lost with the absence of ODSTs: epic invasion sections.
Infinity’s rally point charlie doesn’t compare to Delta Halo and The Covenant. You even get your reward from the start (a Scorpion, making the Hog dropped off by the Pelican redundant). And because of that tank, there’s really no reason to even help your Spartans. Not to mention how the fuel rod guns from the lookout towers deload quickly, so there’s no guarantee of having worthwhile support.
Hell, TotS was done better.

ODSTs still exsist, the Spartan IV program recruited the best adults from every branch of the UNSC and made them into Spartans. If you look at the listed fireteams and account for 5 members per team plus a handler plus Palmer there is less then 130 S-IVs aboard Inifinty when the UNSC first returned to Requiem.
In H4 there are marines but there are another type of soldier tha has armor that differs from the standard H4 marine, he may be ODST. overall id say Infinty doesnt have many or any ODSTs bc they have a major compliment of S-IVs aboard. who can drop with HEVs.
Spartan IV’s can use HEVs too…
Hell, we were shown that John’s much bulkier armor was able to fit inside an HEV.
Speaking of the HEV’s does anyone know if the Frigates docked in the Infinity has Drop Pods. Seriously I haven’t seen a ODST drop since Halo 3: ODST. The best Drop was in 2 with the Chief.

Some of the ships escorting the Infinity are Stalwart or Paris class frigates. Both come standard with HEVs.
Man, I just have so many ideas for future Halo games and Spartan Ops missions involving the ships including Infinity. I was hoping for a defense in Space for Infinity using the Star Fighters while assisting the Frigates for Spartan Ops, I was sad they didn’t do that.
I was thinking a massive siege on a Forerunner structure on Requiem using the drops from maybe 3 Frigates the least. But the ODSTs are gone.

I hate that they got rid of ODST’s and the armor! AT least they gave us the older version, Air Assault.
