ok so i saw the covenant weaponry trailer when it came out. and i must say im kind of disappointed there were no new weapons. how about you guys are you ok with it. or would you have wanted more.

Pretty much, the covenant are no longer your main focus anymore. That goes to the prometheans. Instead of expanding the covenant weapons, except for replacing the plasma rifles with the storm, they’re working on the prometheans and making weapons from them.
Also a whole new class of enemy weapons. I don’t know anyone who actually uses the majority of the covenant weapons, so there’s no point in adding more.
we get the storm rifle, and the return of the carbine and beam rifle! thats all i wanted to be in halo 4 for better covie stuff!
Yup…let’s just all forget about the Storm Rifle…which is a new covie weapon.
Then there are the ones being brought back from Halo 2/3
From a cannon perspective, the covenant is in ruins so of course there are no new weapons. As for gameplay, fewer weapons and vehicles make balancing easier.
There’s the Storm Rifle, but it’s basically just a replacement of the Plasma Rifle. But the Carbine and Beam Rifle are back, so who cares?
So, the Storm Rifle doesn’t count?

I might not have shown it much love back in the day, but the carbine will probably become my go-to weapon in 4. As for the beam rifle . . . it depends on sniper rifle mechanics in general. If sniper rifles work like they do in Reach, I will love the beam rifle as if it was my baby. If snipers work like they did in 3, I will try to avoid it and leave it to my teammates who will be able to use it successfully.

Storm rifle is new, other than that the covenant really don’t do new weapons the way the UNSC does.
When the UNSC gets a new weapon it is a new weapon
for the covenant it is basically the same weapon as before
Hell, I’m surprised enough that 343 is bringing back the Concussion Rifle, let alone the Beam Rifle and Gravity Hammer. Considering 343 is bringing in a whole bunch of new human and Forerunner weapons, I think they get a pass in terms of new Covenant weapons.
But, to be honest, the Storm Rifle doesn’t really count as a new weapon. Let’s be honest.

Nothing besides the Storm Rifle, they are a dying empire so I’m not surprised.

and there is still the storm rifle, without mentioning of course some returning weapons like the carabine and the beam rifle
It’s time and effort better saved for design Prometheans weapons. They’re the new enemy class, so that means they needed a new weapon class a long with additional attention.
