For Halo Infinite, I would like it if there weren’t any multiplayer “task” achievements. What I mean by this are things like Mongoose Mowdown from Halo 3, Totally Worth It from Halo: Reach, or Now They Fly? from Halo 4.
When Halo: Reach launched there weren’t any of these “task” achievements. The same with Halo 4. But because map packs were being sold for these games, achievements had to be tied to them, and what better achievements to add than multiplayer situational achievements.
Halo 5: Guardians has none to my knowledge, with the only additional achievements being added for Warzone Firefight and Score Attack because all of the map additions were free. I hope this is a trend that continues.
I am also not the biggest fan of achievements that require another person like beating the entire game in co-op, but I expect that to return. With the return of split-screen this won’t be as bad to get by yourself if you’re having trouble finding a friend to do it with.
While I agree that Mongoose Mowdown was a bit extreme, I actually like having task achievements to complete. Next to commendations, they also change the pace of my playstyle for a little bit so I focus on that until it’s done. The achievements you aquire by just basically progressing don’t even feel rewarding. You just accumulate play time.
They’re just fun little challenges, but I’m definitely not saying some can’t be a little much. Considering I’ll probably spend 75% of my time in Multiplayer, I love seeing more things to go for in that section of the game alongside campaign achievements.
I think some of them can be fun as long as they are reasonable. It’s the unreasonable ones that cause you to intentionally throw games while you try to get them that I’m not a fan of (looking at you H3 2 for 1 laser in FFA)
There is multiplayer achievements in h5 but it’s just like complete a certain amount of matchmade games like ctf
but yeah task achivments should come back but don’t make them like mongoose mowdown or 2 for one but instead make them fun and a wow factor like the one involving getting a DMR kill at like a snipers distance or the destroy a vehicle with three enemies in it frim
h3
Amen to this. I have always been against online achievements that aren’t straightforward “win x number of games” or “reach level y.” “Task” achievements only encourage players to play a certain way and encourage boosting sessions, both of which disrupt the way online play was intended to be. To me, any accomplishments online such as reaching Champion rank are separate achievements in themselves.
I vehemently disagree with you OP, those achievements were fun, and it was a huge downgrade when they weren’t implemented properly in Halo 4/Halo 5. These sort of achievements were always fun in Halo 3 and they should most definitely return in Halo Infinite, give new players something to work towards. None of them are compulsory and are just personal badges of honour.
I agree OP since those types of achievement alter how people play the game online, especially the ones in halo 3 that had armor unlocks behind them. I dont mind co-op achievemnets though
Totes agree! Getting a perfection on Orbital… what a dumb achievement lol. The only one I don’t have from Halo 3! Map-specific achievements are the worst
I have to disagree I wish Halo 5 had More multiplayer achievements. They were just fun little things to strive for. Also I hope they have some more difficult ones where let’s say armor is tied to

He seems to be referring to specific Instances.Such as most of the mp achievements in halo 3
