Well, for the most part; Episodes 1-8 are no longer plagued by the presence of the Grunt B-Day and Mythic skulls. 343i has finally removed them. Episodes 9 and 10 still have the skulls, but I imagine those will be disable as soon as they’re done with this 10-week run of Spartan Ops w/skulls; which should be over on the 25th. Thank you 343i.
On top of that, they finally fixed the Loadout reset glitch and the first-person armor glitch with the Champions DLC armors. About bloody time.
The downside? The Champions DLC content still does not work in Spartan Ops; I know BS Angel said that it couldn’t be fixed, but I was holding out that they were at least trying to find a way with this new title update (hence the repeated delays).
Looks like that’s not going to happen, now… I guess I have no choice but to give up on that notion. 343i; make sure Spartan Ops and Firefight are more flexible in future Halo games. Oh, and make sure all the favorite classic armors are included on the disc. Mark V, ODST, CQB, EVA, EOD, Mark VI, Scout, Recon, Security; the works. I’d appreciate it.

Isn’t Security copyrighted by Bungie since it’s design is based off of the main characters helmet in Marathon?
Also, finally! I can play Spartan Ops if I ever get the feeling again and not deal with skulls that make it ridiculously hard with ridiculous amounts of Elite Warriors with Fuel Rod Guns!

I’m not sure… but it would be nice to have. I really liked the Halo:Reach version of Security. My point is, they should include as many of the classic armors as possible. If Security is a no-go for whatever reason, Mark V, ODST, CQB, EVA, EOD, Mark VI, Scout, and Recon are still fair game and should not be left out.
As for Spartan Ops… I think I’ll start playing again. The skulls are still active in the last 2 episodes (9 and 10) but those’ll be gone by the 25th.
Definitely good news. I played through all the episodes when they were first released but for some reason my service record only says 49/50 completed. Now with the skulls gone, I can run through them with ease.
I concur with you about the classic armor. I plan on keeping my EOD throughout my Halo career.

More than anything, I want my CQB back. EOD is cool, but I wore CQB all throughout Halo 3 and Halo:Reach.

Thanks for the feedback on Spartan Ops Skulls - this led to our removal of Skulls on non-active Matchmaking episodes on the Spartan Ops Timeline. All of the details of today’s Matchmaking Update can be found here!
I seriously fail to understand how they could possibly say they can program all these armours into the Multiplayer maps but not into the Spartan Ops ones. I swear “Can no be fixed” is code for “We simply don’t give a damn”.
When it comes to which armours are actually necessities to maintain I’d say it’s simply the basic armour sets from each game.
We really should keep Mark V, Mark VI, ODST, Mark V**, and Recruit moving forward. Maybe stretch that a bit to include armour that is actually Canon to the series (by which I mean has literally appeared in media), such as CQB, EVA, EOD, SPI, Commando, Air Assault, Grenadier, Scout, Scout (Reach style), Soldier, Recon, and others.** Anything that has been legitimately worn by a Canon character within the series, as well as graphically portrayed, should be available and appear relatively similar to it’s original design (I’m REALLY looking at you, Commando).

The reason why 343I will not implement the DLC armors and skins to Spops, is because everything has its limits, and Spops has already met its limits, so its impossible to add anything without removing something, and if you remove something, you might break the whole thing.
I would rather have Spops that works than Spops that doesnt work but the DLC´s work there.
Or it could be that 343I just doesnt care. Im no programmer, so i cant check out if Spops’s memory is full.
But i want to believe that 343I is telling the truth.

I think your link isn’t quite right. It leads to the 11/11/13 update

You realize that after they integrated the August TU content into War Games, it took them nearly three months to patch what broke, right? Imagine what would happen if they tried to integrate the content into Spartan Ops. Your console would probably explode.

3 Questions:
Why were skulls activated for Spartan Ops in the first place? Why these particular skulls? Why were they not optional?
> What’s the point of playing spartan ops without skulls on? They’re easy enough as it is, don’t take away our ability to make them more challenging.
I you want Spartan Ops to be more challenging, crank up the difficulty to Legendary and see if you can get through all 50 chapters. But forcing all players to play with the same skulls is a bad idea. Having Elites and Knights with double health (courtesy of the Mythic skull) was not fun, and Grunt B-Day was just annoying.
Nobody liked forced skulls; when we asked for skulls, we wanted to be able to select them ourselves and turn them on and off at our leisure, same as Campaign. Instead, they basically forced everyone to play with the exact same skulls on for 8 weeks and no way to turn them off. Like Bravo said; the community didn’t like it, and that’s why they turned them off:

> 2) I meant, why this particular combination of skulls? Why not a different set? Why not all of them?
> 3) okay…
People on these forums have been asking for the ability to turn on skulls for a while now. Where have you been?
Like Noble said, it was an experiment. If they had turned on all of the skulls; there by forcing us to play on LASO for 10 weeks, no one would have been playing Spartan Ops at all. They tried it with just Grunt B-Day and Mythic, and that alone was a turn-off for many Spartan Ops fans. Forced skulls are not what we had in mind.
Obviously, the experiment failed. Like I said, we didn’t want forced skulls; we wanted the ability to turn skulls On and Off at our leisure, same as campaign. No skulls are better than forced skulls.
