There should be NO SCORE LIMIT in ANY Halo 4 MM gametype, only a time limit should be used.
The advantages are that you know exactly how long you’ll be playing for, and also there’s potential for awesome scorelines.
I know that people are already opposed to the idea without realizing many popular sports have no score limit. To those of you against the idea: why does no score limit work well for games like football and basket ball and hokey and soccer etc etc, but not work for halo?
> i guess thatd be fun for A gametype. ONE gametype…not all…chill…
You just don’t get it do you?! Having no score limit is a FUNDAMENTAL IMPROVEMENT on the game. To not have it in every gametype in MM is a terrible decision. I hope 343i is smarter than Bungie.
I think only Slayer gametypes should be time limited instead of score limited just because capturing five flags first is a good objective, not who has the most after 15 minutes. I played BTB Heavies in Big Team Battle on Reach the other day and some games don’t reach the 200 score limit which basically makes it a 15 minute game (I think thats the time on the gametype). It was so much fun basically playing and killing at a normal pace for a time limit instead of reaching the score limit so fast.
I think the reason why there is a score limit is because they don’t want teams of four that are really good playing against a really bad team of four and having the score be 130 to 20 kills in ten minutes. It would make people quit instead of waiting for the score limit to be reached already.
what about the teams that are getting their butts raped? I’m sure that wouldn’t cause quitting. sitting there for the whole 12 minutes and losing 80 - 10
Stat padding, long tedious games, a drop in the over all population because face it no one wants to set for 10-15 min and get dominated on. Nope if I’m losing make it as fast as possible or I’m just gonna quit, I’m all for up for “Hold the Line…” But not when i could be doing something else, 1-50 kills can be accomplished in 5 min, 1-5 flags in 3 min. I have a life, a job, a wife, etc, sometimes I just wanna grab a quick game and go do something else, sometimes I want to retreat into the man cave and drown out the days problem with the sound of gun fire.
This time-limit only would be detrimental to anyone who like the fast pace game-play of Halo past, because why have fast gameplay when your players will be stuck their for 10 min anyways, I might as well play gears of war and spend all my time in cover taking potshots at sprinters.
Ya i think there will be big issues of people quitting the games.
I think the fundamental issue is trying to keep people in the games
and not rage qutting or turning heads at halo altogether.

You have made me the happeist person in the world o hear that.
343i : DON’T DO A BUNGIE
BipedFour3 : MARRY ME
BUNGIE : FAIL
Id say that for competitive and games such as MLG there should be a score limit, also for things like CTF as well in fact any objective based games should have score limits but also really high ones.
To top that off social games/normal games should just have a time limit. I feel that a time limit is the only limitation needed.
OP you tend to forget that outside of the highest level of sport competition (Pro, College, Olympic ect) Sports that dont have a score limit have a mechanism in place to either end the game or give the other team help if they are getting destroyed. Some sports have a mercy rule, which might as well be a score limit. Some sports have a running clock after a team is down by a lot which Halo already would have. Some sports let you add an extra player after being down by a certain amount which you couldnt do in Halo.
Point being, in sporting events where skill levels can differ greatly they usually have something that -Yoink!- the team getting beat. Halo already has most of those mechanics by default to prevent stat padding and since the game has no way of really knowing if the games are going to be close, they need those mechanics in place at all times.

I can’t say how much I disagree with you…
People are quitting quite enough, when my friends and me are punishing them with running riots and perfections, why do you think they will stay in a game, where the point difference is over 30? I wouldn’t say this would be fun it would be very frustrating for those “noobs” out there, which are pretty much in Reach, because no skill system.

Because the other team can’t quit in sport and leave you bored out of your brain.

How about other games like Tennis, Ping Pong, Squash and Badminton? Not all games have a time limit system.
Having no score would lead to lots and lots of stat-padding. The young people of today have very short attention spans. They wouldn’t be able to handle a full 12-15 minute game without getting bored halfway through. I see the issue of people getting bored and quitting. With no replacement system to replace players who have quit, it would be very boring.
Could you imagine a game of slayer with no time limit and it is 4v1 with the one person hiding for 10 minutes. I would probably die.
