No more hitscan please

Hitscan takes away so much skill from the game. Anyone can just aim and shoot but leading shots takes skill.

Now that we have dedicated servers this would be perfect. Make it like Halo CE and Halo 3 where you have to lead shots.

Many people complained in Halo 3 because the P2P doesn’t work very well with non hitscan but now with dedicated servers this is possible.

Halo 3 LAN was amazing!

Please 343 this is my #1 wish for Halo 5. Please make Halo non hitscan again.

Like you said now that we have Deds and hopefully improvements to the net code I’d be ok with projectile weapons returning.

If they can get it to work without dropping shots, I’d be all for it.

They’d need to lower aim assit again however. I hate having to fight the darn thing just to properly lead shots. Halo 3 did the right thing with less aim assist, but through terrible netcoding on P2P servers it also dropped shots constantly…

Whether 343i will make the guns projectile given their “More Accessable” idea is unknown, and pretty unlikely.

But we can hope.

Yeah, point and shoot gets boring after a while.

Not just for weapons, also for vehicles (i.e. H3 Ghost, Reach Wraith).

Its good to see that I’m not the only one who feels this way.

Aim assist and bullet magnetism needs lowering.

Leading shots also encourages map movement and lessens camping by making distant targets more difficult to hit.

I would be very interested in a Halo 5 absent of hitscan.

I think hitscan might need to say because it reduces the medium and long range hokey pokey dance that mutltiplayer becomes with out it.

Long range 5 shots were major ruining factors of BTB in Halo Reach and 4. That is a fact that simply can’t be argued.

Exactly, 4 shotting perfectly should never happen unless you lead shots. Hitscan makes halo so easy for anyone to master.

How about also adding bullet drop to long range weapons? They already added it to the tank and I think the Rocket Launcher so why not the DMR and Sniper?

To be honest I really don’t like this idea.

Projectiles add an aiming skillgap, but bullet drop adds such a skillgap it comes detrimental to the pacing of the game. Especially in a game where people can jump ten feet into the air, would be impossible to track their head.

While I would normally be inclined to disagree here. I have to admit we are firing weapons in 2552. And the ranges on Halo Maps aren’t even far enough to incorporate bullet drop in a modern day sniper. To be honest, I think if they gave it a smaller reticle and reduced aim assist, the Sniper Rifle should still have Hitscan. As well, the projectile speed of the DMR should be faster than the BR, which should already be faster than it was in Halo 3.

REAINIAT APPROVES…
But as its already point not all guns should be hit-scan, specially the Sniper Rifle, and projectile speeds should be adjusted, long range guns should obviously have faster bullets

One good thing about projectiles is you can give different weapons different projectile speeds.

The Assault Rifle could do heavy damage and have high accuracy, but have a slow projectile speed to keep it from dominating at long range.

The Battle Rifle could have a fairly fast projectile speed and slightly less damage.

The DMR could have a very fast projectile speed but less damage.

The Sniper Rifle could have a projectile speed that is almost Hitscan.

Thus, we can make every weapon accurate and consistent, without -Yoinking!- up their respective roles. This is how Halo Ce should’ve been balanced, instead of just making the Assault Rifle completely spammy and useless.

No!

Having no hitscan makes the weapons inconsistent (even in LAN). It doesn’t show much skill, more like who has more luck.

Halo 3 did this bad with making the BR non-hitscan. The gameplay was much more better and consistent in both Halo 2 and Halo 4.

If you want non-hitscan, then you also think bloom on precision rifles is okay.

> Having no hitscan makes the weapons inconsistent (even in LAN). It doesn’t show much skill, more like who has more luck.

Only if there are pseudorandom elements like bullet spread, which was the reason why the BR in Halo 3 was less than ideal, not because the gun was a projectile weapon.

I personally dislike hitscan. Figuring out the proper amount of shot lead at a variety of ranges adds to the learning curve, making the game more fun.

I’m going to sound nooby, but I don’t play too much multiplayer, what is hitscan?

> I’m going to sound nooby, but I don’t play too much multiplayer, what is hitscan?

Projectiles don’t have a travel time. If you aim at a guy, the damage is done as soon as you pull the trigger.

> I’m going to sound nooby, but I don’t play too much multiplayer, what is hitscan?

Bullet travel. It’s what they had in Halo CE and Halo 3 to give you a rough idea of what it is like.

Hit Scan is what they had in Halo 2, Reach, and 4.

I think you would like having non hitscan since Halo CE appears to be your favorite in the series.
