No more Halo 4 with new xbox?

Xbox Games, News & Reviews | GamesRadar+ According to this, the new xbox will not have backwards compatibility. So what happens to Halo 4? It is only going to have a 1 year life span and that is not nearly long enough for a Halo title. What do you guys think of this no more Backwards compatibility?

Well, Halo 2 came out in 2004 and the xbox 360 came out in 2005, but people played Halo 2 until 2010 (if I’m not mistaken), so xbox live support for xbox 360 games might not be expected to cease until 2018?
Then again, Halo 4 might not be so popular as Halo 2 was back then, so we’ll see.

In addition: “According to a rumour we published yesterday, the next Xbox will be an always-online machine”.

What is going through these peoples minds? What about those gamers without a steady internet connection? Christ.

And this is coming from Major Nelson. Hope that enlightened some people.

I stopped reading the rumors.

Until MS reveals the machine, we know very little.

Too many ifs to get worked up on at this point.

This is disheartening. They could make it work, they just want more money.

Your PC, cell phone, tablet and any other electronic device coming out is always connected as well and no one has a problem with that.

People act like always online is awful when in fact they know nothing about it.

To be totally honest I’m not sure how many people are really going to religiously play on the new xbox. It’s not sounding that great!

I agree… We’re in the year 2013, very few people don’t have internet. The only thing I would be worrying about is poor connection.

Yup, that’s it, I’m done.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be buying a PS4 and keeping my 360 in good shape.

Halo 2 Anniversary better be playable on the 360, or words will be had.

You may not worry about an always online Xbox. It wouldn’t really affect me either but there are gamers that don’t play online and don’t have an Internet connection to support it. They get shafted then? Sounds like a great marketing strategy. First they alienate the Halo fans and then they alienate the entire Xbox population. Brilliant. Lets hope this is just a stupid rumor.

There have been 76 million Xboxes sold, and there are only 46 million Xbox Live accounts. It would be very shortsighted to ignore this demographic, yeah?

You do know that the PS4 is also not backwards compatible?

LOL.

Cya later.

Please elaborate on what we do not understand.

My pc is not always online. Yes to use the internet obviously it is, but when broadband drops I can still use the vast majority of features.

My phone is only connected to the internet when I’m in the house. If you’re referring to it needing signal well that’s really not the same thing anyway is it. I can accept that my phone needs signal to call other people, just as I can accept my xbox need an internet connection to play other people.

My phone does not need signal for me to use it unless that action involves another person. Similarly most games allow you to use them fully offline, unless you want to play other people (some exceptions like SpOps).

Having an always online console does not compare in anyway to the current state of computers or mobiles (in fact both of those things are more comparable to the current offline capable xbox) so I really do need you to elaborate.

Except my PC, Phone and Tablet aren’t always online?

I can play iPad apps offline, I can play PC games offline and I don’t have an internet capable phone nor do I need one.

I’ve got third world internet and my xbox struggles to connect to live on a good day, and they somehow expect me to be connected to the internet 24/7?

Hell with that.

… it isn’t?

… I really don’t understand these people anymore. Does the PS4 have to be played online at all times? If not then it’s still an option for me.

Yeah, but it has been suspected that the critical mass of individuals has been reached for it to make sense for MS.

Other rumors include the grace period of 3 minutes in the event of an internet disruption before the game pauses.

Too many rumors at the moment.

It is not a big deal for me to be honest, but I can see how it can be an issue…

The rumor is that it may for both systems.

Everyone is playing it close to their chests. Neither Sony or MS want to tick off potential customers. But they also want to ensure that piracy is kept in check.

Halo 4 being circulated 4 weeks before release is an example of what MS is fighting.

E3 will probably be the time when all is revealed.

I could understand no XBOX game compatibility
But 360 games?

For Chrissake, this whole “let’s all play the bad guy at the same time” trend stopped being acceptable after Rockefeller and Carnegie took it overboard.
