No MORE Flood, Get us something new!

I personally got sick of the flood after halo 3, they aren’t much of a opponent hell all you really have to do is stand back and throw some plasma grenades or spam the assault rifles on those small little guys.

I really enjoyed the Promethean as a new enemy and they were really challenging and new, but in halo 5 you know we killed the didact and the Promethean if im correct are dead defeated forever, so what will 343i even think for this new enemy other than that huge forerunner eagle thing, but like do you want to see more copies of Promethean or new versions of them or even some secret fore-runner ancient exile race of sorts just something that IS NOT THE FREAKING FLOOD lol.

So yeah hopefully you’ll support something new and give out some ideas.

As far as I know the Didact is not dead, Prometheans are still running around and everyone seems pretty convinced that the flood will be in Halo 5 in some capacity

OP the flood is what halo is all about. It is THE core part which defines halo.
The last time we fought the flood was almost 8 years ago! U want something new ? 343i can create pretty much every enemy out of the flood. I’m sure we won’t only fight those forms we already know.
Fighting prometheans as main enemy again would be drab. Of course the didact will play an important role (edit: probably not -.-) , but the flood will be a/the main foe. Just remember the arbiters speech : “But because all our lives are at stake”.

Okay firstly the Didact is still alive, he survived the fall into the slip-space fissure; and ended up on Gamma Halo AKA Installation 03. The Promethean although challenging were a little text book about classes and roles… mix it up a little. And the flood still has large room for potential…

Judging by your time on each game I’d say it is a fair bet you don’t speak for the entiretiy of Halo. Not to say your opinion isn’t valued or anything like that but your lack of experience is perhaps has a bias effect on your judgement whether the foes are hard or not.

Escalation spoilers

Unfortunately for everyone that’s stating that the that the Didact isn’t dead, he’s dead now.

The conflict ends in Escalation #10 with the Didact disintegrating. It’s real -Yoink- and I am extremely disappointed and frustrated.

There’s plenty of room for the Flood to develop into an exciting and innovative enemy. If it’s extragalactic Flood, then there could be all kinds of exotic pure forms, perhaps with their own guns and such. Ever read the Forerunner trilogy? That’s the kind of thing we should be fighting, not shambling zombies.

I’m going to ask for a source for that, because I really don’t want it to be true…

I mean, I saw that in the preview that he gets hit with a scattershot blast, but I assumed he’d shrug it off…

I have no doubt the prometheans/forerunner will be significantly redesigned and feel like a new enemy. I’d like to see a lot of previous enemies like flood and covenant come back but with more interesting AI and behaviors. The Flood had so much more potential as fused together bodies that don’t need to follow the rules of nature as far as how they move and how they die, and I think it’d definitely be possible to make them feel like a totally new enemy.

John’s foreshadowing of Didact returning again its pretty obvious. He wouldn’t say “he is contained” if he thought he was dead.

Why would they kill of the Didact in a comic? Why not let us actually fight him in Halo 5? What a total waste, He had so much back story and potential.

It’s been a while since we’ve fought the Flood anyway, if anything I think people would prefer them to come back.
Anyhow, the main purpose for the Halo’s is the flood, it would be boring to just get rid of them, given the amount of effort put into destroying them, or attempting to anyway.
Forerunner saga spoilers

The Flood being ancient, corrupted Precursor remains you’d think there’d be some massive standoff against the Precursors or something. I’d like to think they’d return someday.

Flood can return in many various forms, it doesn’t have to be the same thing.

Because alot of gamers who don’t read comics assume he died in Halo 4.

i’m feeling actually the opposite. the prometheans were annoying, awful & boring enemies, nothing more than cheap bullet sponges. but the flood always had made your life a little tougher, especially on heroic or legendary. so to be honest, i hope the flood replaces the prometheans entirely.

I can’t really understand why you’d want MORE flood we’ve fought them for three years now, it’s time for something new.

Maybe the covenant get a piece of the composer tech and builds their own and makes it a super-weapon?

Maybe theres forerunner exiles in stasis and they help chief fight the didact and kill him.

Or maybe the didact gets turned into flood and has new Promethean that are flood basically…

I hate the flood but you are wrong, the covenant is what defined HALO without the covenant we wouldn’t have halo.

If that was your problem, you may need to simply play on a harder difficulty.

What’s with people around here trying really hard to get something they mildly dislike completely removed from the game, rather than just asking them to do it better, like those people who screamed for 343 to kill Sarah Palmer off rather than just writing her character better?

Well idk about you, but I would love to fight Flood, Covies and Prometheams all at once!

Oh I know all about that tweet… But I didn’t know it existed (nor did it exist at the time) when I made that post.

A lot of us feel The Flood are an essential component of the Halo series in a similar way that the Covenant are. They’ve been in the series the very first game, and their introduction was lauded and they’ve gone on to hold a significant place in the Halo universe. They’re essentially corrupted Precursors, they’re a threat to all life in the universe and they’re the reason the Halo array exists.

So they’re an interesting antagonist with a big role in the series; they supply sense of horror. Not to mention the fact that they have there own unique combat strategies, which many of us miss. Plus we haven’t fought them at all in over seven years (discounting Halo Wars). They’re long overdue for a return. And it’s not like they can’t be expanded on, innovated or improved. And bringing them back doesn’t mean we can’t introduce new forces as well.

Besides, everything in recent Halo media suggests they’re coming back. We’ve had their origin explain, various allusions to their return made and the threat of the Flood/Precursors returning is still a very real threat in the lore. There’s lots of dormant Flood research facilities and even the threat of them returning from extragalactic space.

There’s no reason you shouldn’t understand why people would want them back. And isn’t fighting the Covenant in every game also boring by your logic?
