I realy just want the covenant to stay out of halo 4. I don’t even want to see the elites.
They will make an appearance one way or another, I can promise you that. Plus, it would be really odd to have a Halo game where you don’t shoot at a Grunt at least once.
What do you want to see as an enemy. The covenant was fun to fight but I liked fighting the flood the best
I know we will see an elite and a brute at one point, the flood is gone, so I guess it narrows it down to the Forunners as the enemy.

The flood isn’t gone. Read primordium and you will understand why. The forerunners are not the only possibility for an enemy, the flood and precusors are also. It will most likely be the flood and/or precusors becausr Halo 4 faces the ancient enemy and nothing is more ancient than the precusors. Second is the forerunners and third is the flood.
It’s kind of difficult to leave behind an enemy that’s been a staple of the franchise, and not have it feel awkward.
Although the same could be said for the masterpiece that was Resident Evil 4. If 343i can pull off tremendously addicting and satisfying gameplay, barely anyone will care that the Covenant are missing.

I don’t mind the covenant being gone. I’m up to a change of pace especially if it means getting to use forerunner tech and possibly precursor tech also.

Personally, I no longer want to fight anything with an E or an A in its name.

Going by their human givin name that leaves grunts the flood. Going by their actual name that leaves unggoy. If you don’t want to fight anything with an E or A in its name that only leaves two things to fight and that doesn’t sound fun. Also this is my 117 post. I’m Master Chief.
They Said you won’t need to play the trilogy to understand it, Therefore no Covenant.

Or a nice little introduction video when we begin a new campaign.
I’d be surprised if there is none of the former Covenant appear.

I don’t see how since they Have few ships and massive problems of their own.
It isnt Halo without the covenant. We will either fight, ally eith, or maybe play as (Halo 2 anyone?) the covenant in Halo 4. I guarentee it.

First of all, wow, look at that arrangement of words I wrote. What the hell.
Secondly, the games write their own canon. FoR and Halo: Reach? That debacle aside because let’s face it, surely it can’t happen again, I’d just be surprised if they completely overlooked everything that was built on with the trilogy with regards to the UNSC and what’s left of the Covenant.
Frankie Said that the Forerunner Saga is the Backbone of the Reclaimer series.
I think we’ll see some covenant as enemies. There’ll either be pockets of them that still have it in for the UNSC or ONI’s meddling into Sangheili affairs will see them launch an attack on us.
I think they’re just too much damn fun to kill to not feature them as an enemy at all.
I’d quite like to fight with covenant and against covenant like in Halo 3.
If the Forerunners are back (which I think they will be) then it’s reasonable to conclude that many covenant who believed them to be gods will join them and fight alongside them. So you may have Forerunners plus Unngoy and Kigyar against UNSC and Sangheili. Perhaps even have a split and some Sangheili on each side.
They should leave Brutes and Buggers out though, maybe reintroduce them later in the new trilogy.

Yep.
But did he rule out any of the Covenant races coming back?

Question is: How would the remaining and massively dispersed species come into contact with this unknown, Forerunner planet and MC?

With my statement above and the “No purple”. not to mention they have no role

“No Purple” is obvious, the Covenant is over. But how does that rule out any of the races coming back? How do you know they have no role? Are you writing the script?
