343 Industries, Microsoft and Bungie had fought in the courtroom for the rights of the Halo Franchise… the majority of Halo was given to Microsoft… in which was then addressed to 343 Industries… but the Music was NOT!
Bungie, or more importantly Martin O’Donnell, had gained the rights to all the composed music… previously made. This meant that a new composer and era of Halo music was to be made… in my opinion Halo 4 had some fantastic music, which had set the appropriate moods and tones, that the developers wanted to portray… and still gave a Halo spin, to which I welcome.
I can only stress this enough the only way we could see an re-emergence of the classic theme is if they bought the rights from Martin or hired him…
Sad to say… but 343 Industries the sound track for Halo 4 was excellent, as well as the music for other Halos… I would like to commemorate Martin O’Donnell, Neil Davidge and Micheal Salvatori… for the composing of these classic memorabilia.

I dont think this is your problem. It is Marty O`Donnells and I think he is ok with it.
Didn’t stop them from remastering the music for Halo Anniversary, or remaking Never Forget, or including the Halo chant in the composer cutscene, did it? And where is the source that details this information? I would like to see it.

How does preferring the music from halo 4 make him a kiss up?

it’s the way he said it.
Cause all I got from his post was “all hail 343!” So can’t really take him seriously.
He very clearly stated his respect for Marty’s music in the OP, so i don’t see how his post can even be remotely interpreted as “all hail 343i”. Your post comes across as rather trollish. Or maybe its just your fanboyism for Marty?

Well personally I like Marty’s music.
But maybe if halo 4’s music didn’t suck so much -Yoink- I would prefer it.

Thats your opinion though, he prefers halo 4’s. Everyone has their own tastes in music.

Since you brought it up about fanboys… Lets talk about this, entirely new topic.
I’m a fanboy because I don’t like halo 4’s music? Well since we can say whatever we want about someone who doesn’t agree with us, then I can say you’re a fanboy.
I can also say that the only reason the halo 4 fans hate the classic fans is because you guys are bad at the game, and we aren’t.
If I say I like one type of food better then another does that mean I’m a fanboy of the other food?
Saying I’m a fanboy for disagreeing with you is being a fanboy.

And I can respect that he likes halo 4’s music.
But when someone makes a thread saying “no more classic halo music ever!!!” It’s not a post I can respect.
> I don’t remember a single tune from Halo 4 because they weren’t that good in my opinion and they were quite quiet.
I have to agree. Halo 4’s soundtrack was too soft and slow. IMO, it didn’t have the “halo feeling” like in the previous titles, however, Tom Salta did a fantastic job with SA, and hope he does Halo 5/XB1’s soundtrack.
Years later, I can sit here and hum to myself the music that plays in the intro to The Silent Cartographer. Or the believe song from Halo 3. Or the main theme from all the previous titles. Hell I can even remember the hidden song that plays if you stand in the right spot on the H3 level “The Covenant”.
But in Halo 4, barely a year later? No, I can’t remember a single song from the game. That’s not to say the music was bad, but it didn’t stand out and really wasn’t memorable at all.
Please provide a reliable source, otherwise this thread doesn’t have much discussion value.
Personally, I didn’t care for most of Halo 4’s music, but that’s mostly due to how poorly it was implemented into the game. Standalone, I do prefer the original trilogy, but that’s mostly nostalgia and theme-related I think. Overall, I would have appreciated some continuity with the music; it is the same series, after all. Tom Salta did a much better job retaining the “Halo feel” with Spartan Assault.
