No more black screen??

I am sure everyone who has played Halo multiplayer on console has experienced the host change/black screen deal. It plain sucks, and kills the vibe.

Does the xbox one dedicated servers mean this won’t happen in Halo anymore??

I’m not sure if dedicated servers solve the black screen issue but the xbox one has a much more powerful processor so it could allow quicker loading times. It’s your internet connection that determines how quickly online loads but not having to depend on a host’s connection to load up the game could improve this issue too.

Yeah my internet is alright, but i have been in a party with people and we have been stuck at black screen for nearly 5 minutes. So yeah it is not just me haha

With the larger amount of bandwidth can help with loading the map also they could play loading screen music like in BF4

Yeah but i am not talking about at the start of the game, I am talking in the middle of the game and then the host changes or they quit. everyone is stuck on black screen and it is just awful. yeah adding some music would be a plus but still hopefully next gen offers us a solution to this.

There will be no black screen in the middle of the game don’t worry about that unless one of the servers malfunctions and they have to transfer the players to a different one ( which never happens ), dedicated servers remove the need for a host and provide much more stable connections, so the only time you do lag is when your internet is having problems

With proper searches in the Multiplayer matchmaking system as well as having dedicated servers the likely hood of such happening would be reduced quite a fair bit compared to what we are currently having if i’m not mistaken.

You would still experience blackscreens if you have issues connecting to the server that the game is hosted on. There’s still a “host”, but it just isn’t a player. If you have issues with connecting to the “host”, then you’ll experience a network pause screen of some sort (blackscreen) while it gets remedied.

I also did a topic on this too! But seriously they should add dedicated severs

As far as black screens with Dedi servers go, only when you’re connecting to them, and disconnecting from them, as far as “When the host is changed”, sure, you’ll see it happen, BUT, Dedi servers ARE the hosts, as long as you’re connected with the Dedi server, you’ll NEVER see a black screen in the middle of a match like you do in past Xbox Halo games.

Halo 2 - Halo 4 all use servers known as “Hoopers”, which rely on clients “Players” to host, Dedi servers on the other hand, act as the hosting party.

PC games have had Dedi Servers for a long time, Halo PC’s MP was made up of mostly Dedicated servers.

The stupid part was that the game carried on for whoever loaded first where as I was always stuck in loading so I was always dead when I loaded back in. They better put a -Yoinking!- timer or something On Halo X1 so everybody starts equally after host swap.

With the dedicated servers there will be no host swap
