No more AA's SA's. Return to how it was.

Whatever this Halo title is called. I hope 343 has learned from both Halo 4/5. With MCC going on Game Pass later on, I probably will never touch Halo 5 ever again except for Forge. Take notice 343, the Aniversary Throwback always gets packed when I’ve played it. I’ve found matches more quicker then in regular Arena. Also it presents the largest skill gap ever in Halo with people that are experienced with classic and people who dont have a clue how to use the CE magnum. No sprinting in Halo, STOP going off of Reachs formula, it brought Halo in the most horrid direction it could go. Bring Halo back to it’s roots. Thats where a lot of FPS’s are going back to, like COD and Battlefield. Come back to classic Halo, it’s what Halo needs to be again. I’m not a Halo purist, but the proof is there. MCC is probably being played more then Halo 5 and Halo 5 doesn’t even have a decent population. The search times show that. Halo’s current popularity shows that. Bring this series back to it’s roots. Do Halo right.

I can agree on some aspect on what you say, but you definitely speak like a Halo Purist when you say you aren’t.

I’ve played Halo since the beginning. I was glad Halo was able to make it without sprint for so long, but a lot of people will be turned off these days by a first-person-shooter that doesn’t include the sprinting mechanic. I can’t tell you how many people I introduced Halo to in the early days who asked me, “How do you run?” We rely on this mechanic now. Eliminating sprint will feel like giving us a stripped back game; an overly basic and outdated shooter.
That said, I’d be very satisfied it they eliminated Smart Scope. That needs to go!

There are other games that have executed the lack of sprint into their games very well and still has gotten people to play them. For the longest time games like Overwatch and CS:GO were titles that never had sprint (at least for all but one character in Overwatch) and were overwhelmingly popular. And these games were also fairly recent. I think the opposite. I think that players want something new instead of the same complex movement mechanics that almost every shooter has nowadays, and I think sacrificing sprint in order to become a unique franchise again is a good place to start.

That’s a fair point. As long as it feels like a progression, and not a stripback, I’m down. In other words, it needs to be done right, but could very easily be done wrong. Is it worth the risk?
Either way, it’s not the biggest deal for me. I love Halo. It’s more of a concern for the general audience.

Completely agree. I think they still need to introduce things to the game that are new and refreshing, but sprint just isn’t that.

I don’t know if I would count Overwatch as an appropriate comparison to Halo. Overwatch is a psuedo-FPS that’s more similar to a MOBA game. While Soldier 76 does have sprint and play like an FPS character, that’s mostly do bridge the gap for players who aren’t familiar with team composition styled games. An even though only one character has sprint, nearly all of the characters have unique movement mechanics to help you change the pace of how you engage/disengage your enemies. If Halo did remove sprint, I think it would need to add some new movement mechanic to replace it. Otherwise, as stated by MinusSquire2145, it’d feel like a stripped back game compared to all the other FPS games.

Personally, the i only think i liked about halo 5 was the thrust. But Halo would be so much better without it.

I wasn’t comparing it directly to Halo I was just saying that it was a popular title that didn’t do sprint or at least in the same way other FPS’s do.
