NO monetization of any kind in Forge or I permanently uninstall

Aight so here’s the deal. We gotta start being tough before everything is gone. If forte gets any monetization, in any way. Y’all gotta quit, straight up. They took away collision(something that never existed before), they took away a lot of weapons, they took away a proper customization system(which even in the old days of CE was free for goodness sake, yes it’s just colours but think of coatings now). Now if anyone is willing to pay to get another core part of halo, you go right ahead, the rest of the community who doesn’t want to put cash into a semi broken game, one word, UNINSTALL. The game can’t make money with no players.

Forge is going to be behind the paywall of whatever season Battle Pass is gets released with. You can bet it might even be more expensive than any other pass we’ll be offered too.

F2P was the worst possible idea for Infinite. It was rushed to door and for 6 years it’s laughable. This was the longest Dev cycle on a Halo game ever. Yet this is the most barebones Halo. I know they are trying to justify it with 4 year dev time on the ‘Slipspace’ engine (Blam 1.2) but imma clue the devs in. Your engine is a joke. The reasons why everything takes weeks instead of hours/days to change is because of how rigid the engine. One change requires 100 other changes first.

Take a page outta my book. Wait a year. Comeback or wait for the sequel to be announced.

Oh my god I never thought they could do something so evil. Please no!

Seriously though: Using Forge may require buying the campaign (which will support co-op by then). However, to actually play maps I think it will be free. I thought I used to have some sound reasoning for this but I’ve forgotten it.

This is my expectation going forward and 343i will announce how Forge will work before it releases. I absolutely agree that paid DLC forge pieces would be terrible. That’s a great way to split up the community.

I feel like the more realistic dangers are these:

  • What if the forge tool is too complicated for beginners? Halo 5’s complex tools were powerful but kept a lot of people away.
  • Will Forge still support multiple people forging together? That’s a VERY rare feature for map making tools.
  • Will Halo: Infinite’s monetization cause a conflict of interest that restricts creativity? (EX: No more forcing players to look a certain way in a custom game.)

They probably will monetize it. However, I really, really hope they don’t.

Maybe you still load into the map and view everything the way he does, you just can’t use those pieces when you’re in Forge edit mode.

I could see them doing exactly this.

The content creators would then end up in a race to buy the latest assets to include in their maps so that they appeal to the general audience, and people who play those maps and see the assets think “That’s cool, I want to use that in my maps” and subsequently pay the price for those assets for that very reason.

Other games have gone down similar, albeit not exactly the same routes. One example I can think of is Mario Kart on the Switch, the new tracks that they’ve just announced can be played in online mode without owning them, but if you haven’t bought them you can’t select those tracks yourself if you’re the host, and you can’t use them in offline/single player mode at all.

Unfortunately, we all know they will use the “free to play” tag as a reason to justify monetization in any area of the game

I love threat posts. They are usually the highlight of my day.

Oh boy… you sure told them.

I want to beleive that monetizing firge would be looked at as astronomicaly stupid on every level and of course no one would do that… But I said the same about launching the game in this state so who tf knows anymore.

Ya, inb4 the “Builder’s Bundle,” Cartographer’s Premium Pass," “Forge Full Access,” “Editor’s Toolbox,” selling you unlimited materials, bigger Forge budget, fancy new mechanics and scripting, AIs, ability to preview and use new stuff, maps to be added before the casual free Forge enjoyers.

You would think they couldn’t stoop so low, but this is coming from the company who sells you basic colors as “cOnTEnt”

If anything, we probably all will be playing Forge Lite for some months before they really flesh it out months after :man_shrugging:

Hey, maybe they won’t necessarily outright monetize Forge, and release the full experience for everyone across the board.

But guess what will appear in the shop for the sweet MTX price of only $19.99; new, fancy materials and toys, exclusive to those who spread those wallet folds wide and let their bucks get banged by daddy MS!

Though maybe they’ll catch wind of this and pull a full-stop, and ultimately make a complete 360, because they realize they still have to please daddy-o-micro as easy and as many times possible.

Get ready to Uninstall. Forge looks like it could be extremely monetized if they chose to go that route…and monetize it under the guise of “new features, better than ever”

When you consider basic colors being monetized tho…idk man. Wouldn’t be surprised. Then we would get into the fairness of it all where a forger can create something having paid into special features and host a game in a custom browser but…who can enter and partake in it? People who paid nothing? People who paid something?

Ideally it would be free in all respects (forge)…but…you just never know now…previously we had to actually buy the game remember? So what does this mean for a feature like forge?

If they monetize forge then they may as well make split-screen pay to play and start popping up ads.

They’ve also never monetized the color blue, but here we are.

I can’t wait for the December 2023 forge pack. You know, the snowman, candy cane bridge, santa claus’ sleigh, gingerbread house. All for the low, low price of $29.99.

That’s pretty cheap compared to the $69.99 recurring Forge Pass annual subscription fee

I have a feeling not only will they monetize it, but you’ll have people supporting it too, with 343i getting away with it. The question isn’t if Forge will be monetized, but how will it be monetized.

Unfortunately, charging people money to make content for your game is so incredibly stupid and backwards, I could see 343 and Microsoft try it.
