What has happened to the Halo online fanbase?
When someone has a mic its one of these things:
- better co ordination, map control etc.
- kid screaming in the mic
- someone bashing you for either being noob, or hardcore.
- has a mic on, but doesn’t use it.
- in party chat talking to their friends.
- other
Gamers feel like they’re more entitled to whatever they want.
I don’t use the mic because I got tired of all the abuse that was flying around, it was partly why I stopped playing games online. Having no mic makes the playing experience better for me.
The fan base has mutated simulateously to the mutation of the game into a Halo/CoD hybrid-monster.
it is annoying not being able to communicate with my teammates ever.

And when my teammates who have mics don’t use it or don’t have mics, I
Become a kid screaming in the mic
Bash them for being crap
?
Well I think most of the community thinks it’s for the best that no one use their mics.
I mean, a lot of people don’t want to go back to a system where players fought over power weapons, they want them just thrown in their face randomly, and when they order them. Memorizing the maps, spawns and timers was unfair to those who didn’t, the random system that is handing out good weapons for some players and not others is totally fair.
Imagine how unfair it is for a team to use mics then, they can say where someone is and so on. Totally unfair.
To me the headset thing has never been important.
But right now everybody is just a lone wolf in a team… I miss the teamwork.
I rarely play team playlists solo, as the vast majority of my friends are fans of Halo, so I’ve usually got at least one person to communicate with in a party. On the odd occasion I am solo in a team playlist, I’ll have my mic on, but it’s extremely rare someone else will have one/know callouts/make callouts/communicate in any way other than ‘one shot on my X’.
Ranked playlists help this issue with more incentive for winning, but I expect it wouldn’t be a great deal better until you hit the higher end of the ranks.
There is no incentive to win anymore, so everyone just cares about the K/D or is trolling around. This is why we need a proper ranking system.

The randoms who have mics/listen to you online are in the vast minority compared to the loudmouths, kids, and rage warriors. The fact that anyone talks online at all is a miracle.

From my perspective, the Halo online fanbase is reaping what it’s sowed to a certain extent.
Plug your mic in anyway, often if I see people with a mic i’ll plug mine in.

Yep Party Chat. It isn’t only Halo, its everyother game on Xbox live as well.
Halo isn’t “every other game” on xbox live.
Halo 3 had party chat, to this day atleast half of people in any H3 game are using their mics, on average.
I remember back in my day,we use to push a hoop with a stick for fun.
Remeber when there was a 1-50 system where winning meant everything to pretty much everyone.
Thats where people mics got left behind 
Teamwork or victory isnt important now in the New Call of Halo 4.
Only have a Highest K/D ratio in the world is important.
