After playing the beta for the past couple weeks I have been so excited that map voting is NOT featured in the beta. Much like the complaints on past Halo games, I do not care for a map voting system in Halo 5. Hopefully this translates into the final build of the game so we can enjoy every map instead of the same 3-4 maps that are usually on disc.
Map voting should be in the game. Why make players play on maps they don’t like?
I hope 343i steps up in map design. So far, I haven’t been too impressed. Imo, the DLC maps in Reach were horrible and in Halo 4 the only actually good maps that were not forged by the community were Haven, Abandon, Skyline and Monolith.
To me, the real issue here is the overall quality of mp maps. I think Halo 2 had the best maps out of all Halo games and the quality of mp maps has gone downhill ever since.
No they will have map votes because it is what newer players expect. That’s the reason sprint has stayed.

The last reach map pack was great IMO, & maybe they should work on map design but that still doesn’t mean I want to play a haven or sword base 5 games in a row is what I mean

That doesn’t really make sense, Halo is the only place I’ve even seen ppl actually use map voting, I’ve never seen anyone use map voting on COD, at least not to the volume of players on Halo anyways
I liked the old veto system, gave players control over what they don’t like but didn’t mean people were playing the same maps over and over

Although I have enjoyed voting in the past I much prefer a random map selection. Back in the Halo 2 days I did get some game types or maps I wasn’t fond of, but I also got to play on all the maps and modes. Currently the voting options heavily reduce the map pool and modes that one will play. In MCC there is only one dedicated Halo CE/classic Halo 2 playlist that mostly defaults to team slayer. If I want to play oddball, king of the hill, assault or CTF I’m mostly out of luck.
As far as Halo 4 maps I found all of them to be subpar compared to Halo 1-3 maps. The only ones I thought were ok(passable) were Haven, Solace, and Ragnarok. I’m in complete agreement about 343 needing to step up their game on map creation. So many of the maps in Halo 4 looked similar. What made Halo 2 maps so great besides the layout and unique visuals were the interactive elements. I really hope 343 brings back some of the dynamic map obstacles and cover. Elongation/Colossus with conveyor belts were great for game play since they could be used defensively and offensively.
The best map in the beta is Empire in my opinion. The worst would be regret/truth(I love Midship, but the stretched version is just bad).
Map voting leads to less quitting. I want three options to vote for and the ability to downvote. Sometimes I don’t care what map to play as long as it isn’t a certain map. I would rather cast my vote against something rather than in favor of the other two. You either vote in favor of one map or against one map. That should actually help break up the monotony without losing a bunch of people to quitting.
It’s not going to happen, though I also would like for voting to be dropped. I like it being completely random. Voting tends to keep the same few maps in play at all times and just makes the matches take longer to start. I also believe that randomized maps is more balanced.
