It was way over powered in Halo4 unless it get’s a nerf like the hornets did in Halo3.
if you had a team that worked together then a mantis isn’t all that tough. if a mantis is also used in the right hands as well as infantry giving a little support then a mantis can be deadly.

well it is kinda hard when you join in solo when no one talks.

true but it is possible to solo a mantis. mantis’s would be tougher in h5 if they were added as now we no longer get custom loadouts so no more plasma pistol unless you pick one up. I can see why people think they’re tough and such but they are also weak if done correctly. I don’t mind if vehicular weapons are in the game or not, I rarily use them but vehicles should be tougher now (I think) with no more custom loadouts.
The Mantis really isn’t any worse than a tank.
The problem was that the mantis was used pretty much everywhere it shouldn’t have been. Maps like Meltdown and Valhalla are absolutely terrible maps for the Mantis and other heavy vehicles as they are so rigidly split that moving into enemy territory is significantly increases the risk of being boarded or otherwise destroyed. There is no incentive to push in that scenario. Since the heavy vehicles stay on their side of the map they can easily shut down any infantry or warthog pushes which contributed to the stagnate gameplay of Halo 4. Heavy vehicles also have no place in symmetrical objectives for that very reason.
The Mantis should only be on asymmetrical maps or otherwise be placed in a neutral spawn opposite another vehicle or weapon that could be used to counter it.
Screw the mantis, give us the prototype from Halo Legends!
Even with Plasma Pistols available from the start, the Mantis was really difficult to take down. If there’s one thing I didn’t like about Halo 4, it was that the Mantis was on almost every BTB map. I think that it shouldn’t be in regular BTB, but it should still be in Heavies.

Yeah i agree.

Why not both? One could be a fast glass canon(prototype), the other could be tank like (mantis)
The Mantis OP?
With Plasma grenades and plasma pistols available in loadouts not a single vehicle is OP!
The only way to keep a Mantis alive is to play a supporting role, hanging back in the map and firing from a distance. The moment you move up you’ll get destroyed by just about everything.

It wouldn’t make sense to. Mantis was based on that suit both within the canon and in real life. There’s concept art of the Halo Legends suit and how it evolved into the Mantis.

Taking out the Mantis is like asking to take out the tank. Just because you suck too much to take it down doesn’t mean it’s overpowered.
No mantis in general would make me happy, I thought that thing was super lame and uninspired. It also looked out of place in the Halo universe.
Personally, I loved the Mantis but the only things I didn’t really like about it were: 1) It was kind of over-powered (just a little), and 2) It has a weird -Yoink!--like thing which makes it a little less badass.
The mantis was one of the best additions to Halo 4! It really isn’t that much worse than a tank when you consider the fact that it can also be brought down through similar means: plasma pistol, grenades, boarding and heavy weaponry. To the contrary, I think the Mantis was under-powered considering how slow-moving it is and having a suitable custom loadout could easily help take it down. But seeing as that’s gone, it wouldn’t hurt to tone it down. Maybe its energy shields could be removed since we won’t easily have access to plasma pistols and plasma grenades?
Disagree, the mantis is so awesome. Using it was the ultimate power weapon, but unless it was protected by the team it would be ganked as the other team would see it as a big target to shoot at. If you are facing one it requires team work to defeat one, or. You could treat it as a boss fight and solo that bad boy!
i’d rather have the cyclops, same thing but smaller, weaker and more maneuverable
Anyone else not like the -Yoink!--like thing on the Mantis? It’s kind of…annoying, and weird obviously.
You guys, there are several advantages the Mantis has that makes it a lot harder to take down than other vehicles. Since it moves with hydraulic legs instead of wheels, it can strafe just like a player could, something that Warthogs and Scorpions can’t really do. It can turn around on a dime, too, so boarding it isn’t the most consistent option. This makes it difficult to hit the Mantis with anything that doesn’t hit its target instantly (Like the Spartan Laser) It’s the only vehicle in the game that has energy shields, and this seriously drag’s out its lifespan much longer than it actually should be. And, unlike the Scorpion and the Wraith, both weapons of the Mantis are under control of the pilot. This makes it so that, if one of the user’s weapons becomes disabled (overheat or reload) they can still easily defend themselves from most attacks. People will say that a Mantis can easily be taken down with teamwork, but how often do we really have that luxury? As menacing as the Mantis is, there are several other threats on the battlefield that have your teammates’ attention. You need most or all of your teammates to take it down, and charging it one at a time (what usually happens) doesn’t cut it.
Like I said before, the Mantis would fit perfectly in the Heavies playlist, but it’s too powerful and destructive for BTB. Unless 343 plans to nerf it, I’d rather not see in BTB. At the very least, they should stop putting it on every map, they already did that in Halo 4.

Also it has the ability to crouch, which significantly limits it’s hitbox, and it can stomp and cause a huge explosion.
