At least before it had its place and could be depended on.
Its just a waste of a weapon now, only good for smacking someone in the face with the bleed through changes.

AR is one of the best weapons against light armored vehicles you can get. And I have to say, it’s the only weapon where blooming actually works. The gun can be pretty accurate on mid-to-long range.
Heh, In team Slayer it gets the job done.

Oh wow, second page! Didn’t expect ANY feedback, to be honest!
The AR is fine the way it is. The problem is that those weapons always beat it because they’re capable of landing headshots. In a fight, the AR needs to deplete their shields AND their health. The DMR/Magnum/NR just need to deplete their shields. So long as their health remains at %1 they’re still capable of winning fights. It’s even capable of winning a fight against a fully shield opponent when they have low of no shields because they can deplete their opponents shields and get a random headshot in the time it takes for an AR to take down their health.
If you play a custom game with headshot immunity turned on then the overall game is balanced and an AR user is capable of winning fights against these weapons since they need to now deplete their health as well (although the NR can still cause you to explode).
They should look into making headshots incapable if their bloom hasn’t reset (or something), which would also encourage pacing like bloom was intended.
i made a poll about adjusting bloom for the Assault Rifle. Take a look! It should stil be on the first page, it isn’t very old. Thanks!
i love the ar i use it all the time on legendary and multiplayer.
The AR is for the spray and pray crowd who have limited aiming ability with precision guns. Let’s keep the skilled weapons having an advantage at all times akin to Combat Evolved, please.
Just because its underpowered doesnt make it a hard to use weapon.
The reason for it being so crappy is it has no skill gap. If you want it to be good, its gonna have to be a hard to use weapon.
> You, know, The AR in Reach is more powerful than it was in Halo 3. Just saying.
Really? The Halo 3 AR could kill in 16 rounds (2 people per clip provided that all shots land perfectly). Also, do not forget that the AR per bullet damage was higher than the BR, it took about six AR rounds + beatdown to kill a player, compared to nine BR rounds + beatdown.
The Reach AR cannot kill 2 people per clip, has a lower rate of fire, and has a larger reticle than the Halo 3 AR.
You are wrong, the Halo 3 AR had the highest PER BULLET damage per shot of the ARs, though the CE AR had the fastest kill time out of the 3.
I also do not understand the logic behind the people saying the AR takes no skill, It always required you to hold your reticle on the enemy longer than the precision (non-sniper) weapons and required you to burn through two health bars instead of one. Also, holding the trigger vs. clicking a trigger has hardly any difference in terms of skill, it’s the aiming that counts, not the trigger action (at least in Halo, other shooters this is true).
> Yeah the way the assualt rifles kills will make it nearly impossible to get the AR commendation to onyx.
That’s sort of how I feel, it was supposed to be one of my favourite weapons in halo but Bungie made Halo Reach AR players punished if they use it, 343i have to clean up the mess somehow.
There’s an easy fix for this. U ready?.. Don’t play anniversary playlists! (grunt birthday skull goes off in back ground) ur welcome
Remind me how thats a fix again? because assault rifles have been mainly pushed away in most playlists.
> Wow, ARs are not skillfull in any sense of the word. So your saying that its incredibly skillfull to hold down the right trigger and spray? Jesus, you are very wrong.
Nobody who actually knows what they’re doing sprays with an AR in Reach. Spraying and praying is suicide. Burst-fire is the only way to actually kill anything, and even then, you’re likely to lose unless the enemy also has an AR (and, unlike you, is spraying), since nearly every weapon in the game outperforms the AR at all ranges.
DMR- inflicts far more damage far more quickly
AR- has a pitiful damage output
If a “skillful” weapon is one that takes more effort to use and kill with, then the AR as it currently exists in Reach is actually more skillful than the DMR. It confers very few advantages (high magnetism/aim assist at close range only), has a comparatively massive kill time, and it takes quite a bit more effort to properly pace an AR than a DMR in order to fire accurately.
Ah man, don’t even get me started on how badly the AR sucks in Reach. Its range is terrible, and when I say terrible, I mean it really sucks the big one. When the reticle first turns red and you fire the AR, you have to use the entire clip and pray that you will be lucky enough to even take away the enemies shield. But say if you are like 1 meter away from the guy, you still need to use an entire clip but at least you will be able to kill him. But if I am 1 meter away from the guy, I might as well pummel his -Yoink!- or just give the shotgun and I will use that to kill him.
Now of course some of you are going to say, “why don’t you fire it in bursts”? If I wanted to fire a gun in bursts, I would be using the Battle Rifle or the DMR or the Needle Rifle. The Assault Rifle is full auto for a reason, its meant for users to hold down the trigger and fire all of the rounds in the magazine continuously until the magazine is empty.
Now the AR in Halo 3’s multiplayer was (in my opinion) excellent. It had twice the range of the Reach AR and its damage was pretty decent. I could kill a guy with the Halo 3 AR in half a clip. Or I could also use the Halo 3 AR and put like 5 rounds into the enemy and then pummel him and kill him.
Oh and that reminds me, why did they change the melee system. Reach’s melee system sucks now too. And again, Halo 3’s melee system was excellent. I will give you an example of how badly the melee system sucks in Reach. If I hit an enemy who has at least 10% of his shield left, that melee hit will just take away his shield and do no health damage. But if I do the same thing to an enemy who has 100% of his shield, his shield also gets taken away and does not health damage. Does that really make sense? No it’s just BS.
While playing Oddball or crazy king in multi team it’s usually the only weapon you use. Those gametypes get to be a lot of fun when it turns into a cluster -Yoink- of ar’s firing at once.

No.

No what? No you don’t use the Ar in this playlist? No you don’t like this playlist? No you don’t think the chaos is fun? Just saying no doesn’t mean anything.
Why necro this thread…?
My brother made this a half a year ago…

Yeah, good conversation, man.
