It’s almost like Halo is a diverse group of gamers from all aspects and focusing on only one aspect of that community is detrimental to it.
I actually greatly agree with this statement of yours. Launching a game centered around a LAN event was mind blowing honestly. Having a partnership is great for the the game because of that relationship, but this game just continues to lack some of the fundamental items of Halo that we’ve become used to.
Honestly, waiting a second year to ship Halo Infinite and waiting until this fall to ship it with Forge, co-op campaign and multiplayer as it is now to me would’ve been worth it.
This could’ve allowed for some sort of event to celebrate the anniversary of Halo 3, but that got dropped.
I’d rather have something to actually play as opposed to gawking at esports pros who get paid millions of dollars sweating like hell on HI. I wish 343i would stop catering to the HCS garbage and give us folks something to enjoy.
This was honestly a really cool event.
Maybe have it so H3 maps get remade in Infinite, and the campaign is a $15 DLC that also includes some bonus MP items for finding secrets and completing the campaign on different difficulties (like maybe MC’s armor or a skin for the AR that makes it look like the classic H3 AR). That would be a way of doing a “H3 Anniversary Edition” without compromising Infinite’s player numbers, but instead bringing players back to experience the campaign in the new engine and unlock H3 cosmetics.
Oh who am I kidding, something like this would tear the studio in half.
It is obvious 343i is just trolling us Halo fans at this point.
To be fair, Halo 3 holds up much better 15 years later than CE and 2. Even Reach, which recently had its tenth birthday still looks really good for its time. Technology and graphics is starting to slow down, but I bet that Halo 3’s 20th will see something.
This could be said the same for any Halo game regarding camping, camping has ALWAYS been a thing in Halo yes even to the degree of Halo 4 camping.
Core play sucks too, if it didn’t Infinite wouldn’t be matching MCC in player numbers on Steam. Hell if the Core Gameplay didn’t suck Infinite would be in the top 10 most played Xbox games regardless of content.
I mean for CE yes every game ages better than CE but for 2?! Nah, H2A is amazing, and Reach is even better than the 360 build with the thorage update and new armors. Reach has sabres and seraphs in Forge, even got the Target locator, Reach has aged far better than H3.
That is nice to know they did some thing, but what most of us fans actually care about, and what my post’s specific complaint was about, is in-game content.
Showing other players play a single H3 remake map, while the rest of us get nothing, is not something to brag about.
I do appreciate the information, though.
“People would complain regardless”…you’re absolutely right, some non-zero number of people would complain about how H3’s anniversary was celebrated by 343i in any circumstance.
But with this decision, they have maximized the number of fans they have annoyed or insulted.
An anniversary edition would be cool, but even just an in-game event or unlockable would be enough. At this point us fans aren’t expecting a lot, but 343i has to give us something to keep us interested and give us hope that they can deliver cool content
Maximized? No, that would be if they did nothing. Hopefully they learn to never use the phrase “world premiere” for anything short of an expansion/new game ever again based on the majority of the responses I’ve seen across social media lol.
Halo Infinite has no replay value currently due to lack of mission replay and it’s open world being barren of actual activities to do.
People who care about comp. The bulk of the population. Like it or not, you’re the minority. We bring them more money. At the end of the day that’s what drives development. We’re going to get our comp maps before social happens.
