I have to say, the more I use this armor ability, the more I like it. And I’m beginning to wonder why I don’t see it used more.
I know the damage it gives of is weak (I think it takes about 6 shots or so for it to take down someones shields), but I find that it’ll usually get me that shot or two in that I need to finish off my enemy and leave myself relatively unharmed. When placed in an area where multiple Spartans are usually fighting (like the stairways on Adrift), it tends to go unnoticed, and can help me bring in tons of assists and even a kill every now and then.
It’s also got quite a good range, scoping out enemies off radar that I otherwise would not have noticed. I believe I’ve even had it find people using active camo before. And like a lesser version, of hologram, it serves as a good distraction. While playing a game of regicide the other day, I had it set up in one of the lower hallways while I waited around the corner. Someone ran from the side to melee it, and I ran around the corner and gunned them down with the suppressor. Didn’t take a bit of damage.
So, it gives off an enemies position at an increased range, like sensor, it serves as a distraction, like hologram, all while doling out some menial, but helpful damage. It’s only drawback being how weak it is. Why am I not seeing this armor ability more?
The only advantage I see coming from this AA is that it works as a sort of extended radar that lets you know when someone is coming, and where they’re coming from, before you see them.
The damage output is so little that the only time it has any real effect is if you have a whole team using them in a contained area - which is hilarious if you ever try it.
Its a good AA, not sure why it isnt used more. If used by a whole team it could be a MAJOR pain. Ive only ever forrayed into it once for a few days. It was decent. Probably will start using it again. Honestly I trust it to watch my back more than randoms usually

That’s why I use it when guarding the flag in CTF.

This. I did it on Abandon once. Forgot how that turned out.
I love it in basic slayer, it distracts. It’s not a killer, it’s a tool. I place one and it distracts my foes, it gets off that first shot or two that makes the difference in a DMR battle.
It doesn’t do much damage on its own but it supports your fighting. If you leave them alone they’re worthless but together you can own.
It is my go-to AA in all game modes. love that little sentry-bot. very easy for it to go undetected in the general chaos of a battlefield, and since most people only have experience taking them on alongside prometheans because it is underused, they can be wary to try and challenge it.
Besides Hologram, Auto Sentry is my go-to armor ability.
Put it around corners or behind cover, and it is very useful in defending and assisting in a kill. On CTF and Slayer/Regicide on smaller maps, this ability is fantastic.
Sure, it’s easy to kill and has a slow rate of fire. But the thing isn’t meant to completely dominate. Set one up and you have a temporary safe zone you can duck behind and reload or recover your shields while your little buddy wards off the bad guys.
Oh, and yes, having a party of 5 go into CTF with Auto Sentries is absolutely hilarious. When we did it, we equipped ourselves with Storm Rifles and Bolt Shots and played defense the entire game. Very fun.
