I’ve completed the weekly challenges l, but only got 7 of the 16 event challenges. Now that I’ve completed the weekly no further challenges are appearing for the event. This an known issue or what?
That’s not a bug, that’s a feature. You can’t get past level 7 in the Yoroi Battle Pass this week.
Each week you are given 20 weekly challenges to complete, and a final ultimate challenge once those have been completed.
Your weekly 20 are randomized and can be swapped, but the ultimate challenge is the same for everyone.
For event weeks, it seems that 7 of our 20 challenges will also be event challenges. Completing one of these will grant you 1 tier in the Event Pass, and also the accompanying XP in your normal Battle Pass. (The event challenges also have an extra 100 XP per their rarity/XP amount.)

I don’t think 343 did a great way of explaining it.
You only get a set number of the event challenges in each event week, so effectively there is a cap on progression.
I can only imagine the reason for this is to try and force people to keep coming back to the game regularly and oh look each time they come back the storefront is only populated by cosmetic items tied to the event…

Something I wanted to highlight is also how much XP you get from the 20 challenges each week.
Last week was 4,600 I believe and this week 5,500. Outside of using boosts, and accounting for some 50 XP per matches, I’d say you’re not likely to level more than 10 tiers a week (and this is assuming you even do all your challenges.)
And am I reading it correctly that this specific event only last for a couple of weeks, then comes back in Jan for a couple of weeks and then again in Feb?
Yeah so there will be 6 weeks between now and I think April (Season 1), during those weeks you will have challenges relating to the event that will progress the event for you.
