Dear Forum,
I turned on my xbox and inserted halo4 (my family also uses the xbox as I own the xbox and I pay for the xbox live account) and I was prompted with an error message that says “This acount has been temporarily banned from earning xp, http://halo4.com/ban”. I was not prompted with this message before and would appreciate at least an explanation or an outline of what specific behaviour was considered grounds for such a ban.
I have been looking for a way to contact Bungie or some form of Halo 4 administration but this is the closest alternative I have found that may be able provide me with some explanation. I was wondering why my account has been banned from earning xp, proof of why my account has been banned from earning xp and when this ban was placed. I appreciate your patience and assistance.
I also wanted to add that I believe banning paying accounts without a further explanation than “please visit some website” is detrimental to the reputation of the service and the credibility of Halo and Bungi as a whole. Not to mention the numerous double xp and similar xp promotions used as marketing tools to attract players to use this service. It can be added to the list of notable deterrents to joining the xbox community (rather than using PS3 or some other gaming system) that turn away potential customers everyday. Halo is especially important to the xbox community as I believe it can only otherwise be accessed on a PC version, and these vague and impractical bans (especially on something like xp) are not only detrimental to the progression of Halo, but also the progression of xbox and the loyalty of its users.
Thank you,
Wu
Hello there, you might want to read the Halo 4 Ban FAQ-Click Here also I would like to let you know that Halo is not longer developed/managed by Bungie, now 343i is in charge of the Halo franchise.
> when this ban was placed
If this is the first time you got banned it is very possible that it was placed today as first time bans only last 24 hours so it must have been recent.
Also, the game is a 343 game, not a “BUNGI” game.
It’s a website.
Or if you want to use APA style, Web site.
Thank you for your responses. I was not aware that Halo is now managed by 343i. A little more clarification as to how to resolve the ban would be of greater assistance.
I appreciate your clarification Lord Hookocho. It seems this ban has been in effect for about a week.

If the ban is 1 week long that means this is the second time you got banned, also about the ban I’m sorry but I don’t think there is much you can do but wait until its finished.
> I didn’t do anything wrong, and you can’t prove it. Will you please reverse my ban?

> Our automated system builds up a digital case of wrongdoing before any ban is enacted. If you accidentally disconnect a time or two, you won’t get banned. Instead the system looks for patterns that can’t happen accidentally. If the banhammer detects enough wrongdoing, you were doing wrong.
You seem to have a lot of games (around 5/16/13) where you either quit or were away from the game without playing. That likely caused your exp ban.
Interesting… thank you all for your help. Does anyone know who/where I can contact incase this ban is not lifted or happens again?
I’m not accusing them of not having “proof” but how does an automated system determine that I purposely was trying to be unsportsmanlike by not being there the entire game or at all- does it consider bad connection or other extraneous variables such as certain medical problems for example, that would cause the affected individual to be unable to be in front of the tv screen for 15 minutes at a time? There are a million examples such as these where these bans will eventually build up and penalize innocent users for absurd reasons. I think this system needs a serious revision.
Thanks again,
Wu

I guess you can contact a administrator via private message just remember they get a lot of messages per day and it might take a while for they to reply.
In the Halo 4 Ban FAQ specifies that bad connection won’t lead to a ban.

Not entirely true though.

Bans aren’t appealable and constantly dropping out of games will lead to a quit ban.
I see, I attempted to contact an administrator last week but no response. I guess I’ll just have to wait it out.
I appreciate all of your feedback and assistance with this issue!
