No Infinity Challenge Prizes for FIVE states.

After registering for the Infinity Challenge tournament (NO PROBLEMS THERE), playing the playlists for two weeks and landing myself a comfortable spot in tier one on the War Games leaderboard… I’ve just been informed via the fine print that they will not reward me with any prizes because I live in Arizona.

The fine print is here: http://halo4infinitychallenge.com/platform/web/registration/Rules.html

Residents of AZ, CT, MD, TN, VT, and QUEBEC are VOID FROM PARTICIPATION or receiving any prizes. So if you live in any of these places and you are lucky enough to win that sweet, sweet truck (or any prize at all), expect to have your dreams crushed no sooner than you find your name on the winner’s list.

I think this is complete bull and if it has anything to do with those state’s gambling laws, then AZ for one should be qualified for this event! In our state you have to wager or risk something of your own for it to be considered gambling. Tournaments, games of skill, bingo, or whatever where prizes are given up without us having to pay for a chance at winning ARE NOT GAMBLING.

If anyone from xbox, 343, or -Yoink!- gaming ever sees this thread – Know that people are PISSED. You should explain the reasons for excluding players from each of these areas. BTW if you are going to exclude people like that, make it easy and tell them at the beginning how you hope to screw them all over if they win. Do me a favor and don’t let me register for something if you know the state I live in prohibits me from playing for prizes after January 10th.

And just so they know I’ve done the homework on it, the following;

As noted by Arizona Supreme court:
“Paying an entrance fee in order to participate in a game of skill . . . in the hope of winning prize money guaranteed by some sponsor to successful participants, is a traditional part of American social life. [W]e are reluctant to adopt a statutory interpretation which would turn sponsors of golf, tennis or bridge tournaments, … and the like into class 6 felons . . . [Furthermore, where the legislature specifically created a state-sponsored lottery,] it is difficult . . . to find any moral imperative for a sweeping interpretation of a gambling statute in order to make the sponsor of a crossword puzzle contest a criminal while his next door neighbor, betting a dollar with the state to win a million in the state lottery, is a virtuous citizen” (from Am. Holiday -Yoink-'n 727 P.2d at 812).

If it has nothing to do with the gambling statues then W.T.F.mate! Seriously…

There’s always legal reasons for things in contests. I’m sure if you looked deeper you could find the Answer you are looking for.

That’s America for you…

And 343 call it “the biggest and most accessable Halo tournament in the world”…

… when everywhere except for 45 US states can’t take part.

> That’s America for you…

what you mean we cant read?

seriously who doesnt read the fine print now days on something like this
especially after the specialization code -Yoink-

> Residents of AZ, CT, MD, TN, VT

I’m surprised KS is not in list somewhere.

Nuff said.
