No incentive for headshots?!

75% of the time I die from what used to be considered a “precision” weapon (DMR,BR,etc.)it feels as if they won just because they were spamming their trigger as fast as they could to get the next bullet instead of taking the time to kill me with a headshot. So I end up being dead before him, when I was aiming at the head and he was just shooting any where an shooting as fast as he could, which would have ended in me killing him before he got me in any other Halo. So I come to the conclusion every time that I’ve died from the speed instead of the precision.

Has the incentive for aiming for the head to get a faster kill gone away or has it been been drastically reduced for all the new players shipping in from other titles? It sure feels as if it has been taken out or reduced. Maybe a better kill feed would clear this up, so I know how the player killed me like Reach.

Well you get 5 points for a headshot kill, so there’s the incentive.

A very small one at that. Also in the end five extra points really doesn’t effect you that much, even if your every kill is a headshot.

A kill is a kill is a kill is a kill is a kill

The incentive of a headshot is to get a faster kill. I’ve never played against somebody using the DMR or BR or Carbine or Light Rifle who wasn’t aiming for the head. Plus like the previous reply stated, you get an additional 5 points. Incentive found.

Ummm each kill is onyl 10 points. If you get only the addition of a headshot to those 10 points (i.e. no revenge, avenger, comeback kill, etc.) that’s 15 points which equals 150% of the points you would receive normally. That’s a decent incentive…

Then the people playing Halo 4 must be robots instead of human, considering how fast they’re able to shoot and get me in the head as well.

I’m not sure how the XP system works, but if on average the top player gets around 20 kills and all are headshots that’s only an extra 100 points, which doesn’t really help once you get past the rank of 20 or so.

Well when you consider the fact that people are no longer knocked out of zoom when they’re hit, it makes it considerably easier to keep a steady line on an enemy’s head.

As for your second post, I’m not sure how the XP system works either, so I can’t speculate. All I know is there is an incentive to getting headshots in the forms of increased damage and additional points.

The killcam doesn’t give you an accurate account of where they’re aiming, thanks to lag.

I think it’s absolutely terrible. Shooting someone in the foot does the same damage as a headshot to the shield…so stupid.

I always found killing my opponent with a headshot is the best incentive for me. They drop like flies, i get a ton of head and our teams score goes up so we can hopefully win.

It’s really not guys, that is how Halo has ALWAYS worked. It takes 5 shots with the DMR/BR to kill someone if the last is a headshot. ONLY THE LAST needs to be a headshot. Meaning you can land 4 quick body shots and finish with an accurate shot to the face. That is the best way to kill someone. Quit complaining about it

Umm…killing someone in 5 shots instead of 8 isn’t enough incentive for you?

LMFAO is this for real?

You have a max rate of fire on precision weapons…if they kill you by “spamming” your body with shots then you missed the headshot on them, or can’t aim for the head at the maximum RoF.

It takes 3ish shots to the body after the shields are down, so you have 2ish shots to get the headshot before they kill you from body shots.

> I think it’s absolutely terrible. Shooting someone in the foot does the same damage as a headshot to the shield…so stupid.

Uh…yeah? That makes PERFECT sense. The sheild isnt weaker at the head. Its a energy shield that absorbs kinetic and thermal energy. It doesnt matter where you hit the shield. Just because you hit the head of a shielded person doesnt make the bullet somehow do more damage. The only reason headshots do more damage without shields is because you are hitting the brain, but when its a shield its just that…a shield…you wouldnt expect to do more damage to a covenant cruiser if you hit it in the front would you?

headshots kill faster post shield drain than body shots with precision weapons …faster kill time and worth more points

there is incentive. its called a kill.

you also get commendations and challenges for it.

It has been like that in every Halo since the first.

I always thought you head shots were to get a faster kill. I didnt know I needed an incentive. Whats the point of this thread again?
