I can’t be the only person here that has an issue with Microsoft releasing an “Elite” 1TB Xbox One with a hybrid drive only a few days after releasing our Halo Edition console with a standard 1TB drive. This makes zero sense. Why can’t the $500 Halo console also have the same hard drive? Maybe it would be fine if our warranties weren’t messed up by replacing the internal but that is not the case.
I don’t think this is the right forum to discuss this. As you said, it’s Microsoft’s decision. But considering people are already complaining over the high price tag of the Halo 5 bundle, Adding a hybrid drive, which costs more than a traditionnal HDD, would aggravate this problem.

The “Elite” 1TB is $500. That is a $400 console with a $150 controller. $50 off.
If the drive made the console cost that much more they wouldn’t have left that $50 difference. The same being done for the Halo console shouldn’t have been anymore expensive to the consumer.
The $50 off comes from removing the standard controller. It still only comes with 1 controller.

Bundled accessories always cost less. Just like the Kinect is worth 150$ separately but worth 100$ in a bundle. Plus the Xbox One Elite doesn’t come with a free game.

Its not about it costing less and oh heck no they don’t.
The Halo Edition is $500. That is $400 for a custom console and $100 for the LE version of the game that they put in there for some random reason.
The Forza 1TB bundle is $400 but still includes a new $60 game so no… They don’t always cost less.

" It still only comes with 1 controller." I am aware…

Redacted, went to EU xbox for some reason. Dumb browser is dumb.

Then maybe you should rethink your math.

> Why is everyone in here talking about cash so much? The price of any of this doesn’t matter. The fact is that they’re releasing this Elite console literally a few days after the special edition H5 One’s released. This is kind of a rip off for anyone that wants it. I’m getting a 500 GB gears new model, but for anyone that’s planning on getting the H5 edition, I’d suggest rethinking at this point if what you say’s right. Too bad, maybe they might upgrade the internals for the H5 One.
Cash is important because asking if as many people would buy the Halo 5 bundle if it cost 50$ more is a legitimate question.

There is no point in being upset, plenty of people on Youtube have already proven the Xbox One does not get any sort of performance improvement from having a faster drive. The biggest real world increase was only a few seconds less game loading time, so before you jump up and down and get annoyed by this just remember to research it first as Microsoft wouldn’t change from the standard HDD to an Hybrid HDD without there been some sort of improvement to the longevity of the HDD itself.
So in reality just save your money cause consoles don’t benefit from anything like a PC does,
The Halo edition console is the worst bundle I’ve seen. You guys flocking to it are fools. Let’s see, you get a basic console, no kinect, a digital download of the game all for $499. Or, you could buy the Forza console (which also happens to look better) with 1TB storage for $399 and buy a damn copy of Halo 5 for LESS than the Halo bundle.
MS is working you fools over with the Halo 5 bundle. You can’t complain that a better console with a better bundle and value is being announced when the Halo 5 bundle is literally the worst bundle on the market to begin with.
The press coverage for this has been really misleading as most of the title links just say SSD and then you see the “Hybrid Drive” verbiage on the box in the screens all of which culminate in a 20% performance increase at boot from energy saving mode. Yeah- no thanks.
I’m more impressed with the matte black finish than the hybrid drive.

What math do I need to do? I am asking for an SSHD to be included instead of an HDD. I am not asking them to replace the included controller with an Elite Controller.

You:
“Yeah- no thanks”
Translation: “No I don’t want hardware improvements that a console coming out weeks later will have.”
Me:
*Facepalm *Facepalm *Facepalm
And nobody should have an issue figuring out that its not a full SSD.

Oh no. Hell no don’t get me wrong.
I even made threads on here and reddit about why the price is what it is compared to the Forza console. We are basically being forced to buy the LE version of the game if we want a Halo Console at all. MS is taking advantage of Halo fans because they know we will pay a premium.
I am getting this because I never had the chance to get any of the 360 custom Halo consoles, they didn’t put out a Halo Console for the MCC, and I would have to wait another few years to play MCC, Halo 5, and whatever the next Halo game is if I waited for the next Halo Console bundle.
I am the last person you need to say all this to. It is a bad deal and I know I shouldn’t be doing it. I want it though.
Oh and I am a consumer. I am allowed to complain and give feedback about bad policies and practices just like you were able to say the Console bundle is a bad deal. Get over yourself.

Don’t get me wrong - I understand your buyer’s remorse as I’d feel the same way if I had just plunked down for the Halo console.
But it’s not like it’s a full blown SSD. We’re talking a very incremental improvement here with the hybrid drive.
It makes no sense at all. I’m sonoissed off right now because I paid of my Halo console and now it’s nothing compared to the new elite console. Stupid move on MS part. Someone should start a petition.
You know, it’s actually kinda funny: I bought this giant black paperweight to play a collection of games that turned out to be nonfunctional and somehow MS found a way to make me regret my purchase even more. Just goes to show you that when you think you’ve reached rock bottom, they’re just gearing up to whip out the dynamite.
