Since the whole idea is that we are Spartans and training or whatever it is… at this point I have no idea.
But I was thinking it would be fun to see this option.
I’d like to be able to customize the appearance, obviously. Just seems like a nice feature for a game with customization option in 2022.
Eye color, beard, hair ect.
We don’t have to go crazy like Cyber Punk and set the size of our Do-Dads and Wah-Wahs buts still it would be cool to see this in a Halo already.

Maybe in a future game as this sounds like something that needs to be baked into the core customisation. And how detailed are we talking for faces? Sims full custome or just face selector like in many sports games? Also, kinda curious for a lore explanation of how the HUD would still work.
I was thinking something more simple. Just a menus/pregame lobby no helmet option. For example in Destiny 1-2 you can opt to remove the helmet.
So when you are wondering around neutral spots in-game or in your menus messing around with customization you see your Guardians face.

The shields wouldn’t be able to cover the head if the helmet wasn’t there so if you want to go shieldless for every game that’s you’re thing

That worked in Halo 3 ODST due to the fact that ODSTs wore regular combat uniforms.
Meanwhile the Spartans rely on MJOLNIR armor to be walking tank battalions. Without their helmet suite, their suit is functioning sub-optimally and at roughly half the capacity as normal. Plus of course the shields wouldn’t cover your head.
I could see us getting a translucent de-polarized visor color to show off our Spartan’s face, with the face matching the voice actor of our choice. It would be more noticable on hlemets with larger visors, such as EVA, Zvezda, Pilot, ODST, and Chromage, and Firefall.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea for social/cutscene events (as referenced in Destiny) but as a customization mechanic for gameplay it might not be a great idea.
I’m not talking about helmentless option during a game. I’m saying as an option in menus. Pre game lobby when your Spartans are standing together in the fireteam lobby. Potential future cut scenes maybe.
No logisticals to the lore just something to have.

As long as I can make my own guys face and its easy to make a good looking character then sure. If I could also make a GigaChad and a Shrek character too that would be nice

Eh, I’d take it or leave it.
If it comes to this or a properly fleshed out experience with more than a couple game types, maps, complete campaign and PVE experiences then obviously I’d prefer those, any of them.

I’m not sure how face customization works, but if they make it a certain way, I think we could get a face creator like the ones in Elden Ring, Bethesda’s games, etc.
As for the HUD, wasn’t it possible to play as Johnson and other characters without helmets in ODST?
You still had a HUD while playing as them.
Not sure what the explanation would be though if there had to be one.
Their vision is augmented?
Cosmetics don’t affect gameplay (aside from graphics), despite having various effects in lore, so I don’t see any reason why removing your helmet would change that.
Only for Cutscenes.
I’m already pretty sick of seeing Osiris with their helmets off every chance they get.

I mean this could be a cool idea. But every time I see an idea like this, even if it’s just a cool little detail, I feel like it’s too much work for 343.
In my opinion this is a horrible idea. I hate how more and more ‘Spartans’ are showing their faces. Now even Master Chief will in the show. Just doesn’t feel like Halo to me. Keep the helmets on… always. Besides, without a helmet, wouldn’t all headshots be instant kills?

Sounds like a great idea. Can’t wait to buy hair, skin, and eye color coatings for $20 each. Individual color options? Not in 343’s Halo. Your skin texture, eye color, lip color, and hair color, are all packaged into one preset coating. You’ll never get to look exactly how you want to. You finally found the perfect blonde hair brown eyes with pale skin and no weird color lipstick? Sucks to be you, because that coating has a bad case of acne.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate we can’t even hope for new features without worrying about things like that…
I wish companies cared about making good games as much as they cared about taking every dollar a person has.
