No Halo @ Xbox Showcase is a huge red flag

It kinda does. Expand your horizons to something different. Most of the games shown off were extremely good looking for the genre they’re made for.

You have to be joking. Seriously. You can’t be serious in thinking that campaign expansion content years after release is normal. There’s no way. Have you not heard of any other live service story based game?

With the way 343i are handling Halo…I’d say I’m not remotely surprised. I feel like 343i should rethink the future of Halo since going from 252k players to 2k is not at all good. I just can’t imagine anything that 343i could make to get people excited when the last 6 months the game has been in major decline. It was bad enough when 343i mislead us but the lack of content and still no major changes makes it hard to want to return. I was even kind of meh when Halo content was announced for ‘flight simulator’. They could show off forge and I still probably wouldn’t be excited due to the restrictive customization system that blocks most of the content.

I still remember when 343i messed up H4 too but at least they had MCC to fall back on…while Infinite doesn’t have anything since MCC is struggling too. I’m deeply concerned for the franchise.

Maybe they thought people would be excited for new shop content all the time?
It’s hard to be excited for features like co-op or forge when we should have had those since launch.

If there’s nothing tomorrow June 14th that really leaves the campaign in a bad place. Usually they drop trailers for this sort of stuff in June so next year a tease for something coming in 2024?

It wouldn’t surprise me if they’re just going to do a new game at this point. Perhaps the plan is for Halo Infinite to become a bit like MCC with the legacy multiplayer features in. But then sell single player campaigns to us. Making it F2P could be part of that.

But more generally, Halo Infinite is the first chapter of a bigger story, like if Halo CE ended with you learning something had been let loose or encountering the Didact. Also whilst they’ve wiped the slate clean with the Created War they’ve really done basically nothing to establish what’s actually going on. To the point where you don’t know what happened to Earth and the UNSC. They’ve tried to pass this U turn off as a mystery but is it going to make sense to wait three years before revealing that Earths occupied by the Banished? They’d be leaving the story in the lurch and I am not seeing a whole lot of world building slack being taken up by the multiplayer seasons either.

at this point he’s gaining a reputation for being brought in when a game is broken and I’m sure that’s not something he wants associated to him. And then there’s the whole idea I’m guessing of not being able to really do anything at a particular level which must be very difficult. The guy looks worn out

Why though? I know he left Konami but idk what happened between them

That would be pretty sweet

I can only imagine the stress he is having to deal with his hands being tied behind his back.

This is like when the new director took over destiny 2 after Luke Smith moved on. Luke Smith literally had no business whatsoever being a lead of a sequel knowing the actual fact he never had any experience with anything when it comes to gaming. He was only a journalist, and not a real one at that.

So here it is that this new director has to try and do something with the disaster Luke created while his hands are tied as well. “Gaming is doing so great these days”.

Sorry, I’m hoping for something better for Halo than some Destiny-esque $40 “expansion” that’s some minor 5-10 hour playtime DLC every year. I’m thinking more along the line of a new game release sized campaign every 2-3 years as the replacement for getting a whole new game every 3 years.

I was expecting this outcome from 343.

They have nothing to offer us.

I’ve only looked into it briefly, but there is no official response as to what had happened with Konami and Kojima. Supposedly, Konami was moving more into mobile gaming and away from big expensive blockbuster console games. As you can see, this leaves Kojima and his partners at a big loss, so they moved on to other ideas.

I think Konami has the rights to Silent Hill and Metal Gear. So, we won’t see anything from those franchises unless Konami says “sure, go ahead.” Kind of like how Sony has all the rights to Spider-Man but Marvel has creative control of the characters/story. Without Sony’s blessing, there would be no Spider-Man in the MCU at the moment.

Umm Sony doesn’t have exclusive rights to the Spiderman games…Sony only owns the rights to the movies. Hence why Spiderman has been on a Nintendo exclusive game not long ago and why he’s also in the new Marvel gaming coming out soon on all platforms.

As for Koonami as far as I’m aware whatever happened wasn’t great but banning him from being allowed to get his award for himself was a bit harsh. If Microsoft were planning to making MGS it would be more likely involving Microsoft buying out Konami. I just hope he’s not working an a awful P.T style game. Though based on his recent games I’m expecting something weird.

And I doubt it’s anything Halo related.

I look forward to them abandoning this plotline as well, and then going off and doing something else.

In all honesty, the actual angle of the plot is going to be about the Endless. The Banished don’t matter within the story except for the purposes of giving the player Covenant species to shoot, like the Storm Covenant in Halo 4 and Halo 5. They exist within this story for the sole purpose of giving a lore reason that you’re fighting Grunts, Jackals, Brutes, Elites and Hunters again.

I am not sure. They’ve went a lot further with the Banished being responsible for beating the UNSC and Created than anything they did with Storm Covenant. It’s pretty much implied that they’re taking the role of the Created in that humanity is now hiding from the Banished; which is an awkward switch that raises more questions. Unless there’s a spectacular misdirect it looks like they rule the Galaxy which would be a big deal.

Especially since the Brutes had their homeworld destroyed and shouldn’t be in a position to dictate terms to anyone.

It’s very frustrating that they didn’t give you much insight into what the Endless are all about. It could be anything from a fake out for the Floods return, Terminator style time travel (we’re going to save Skynet ), multi verse nonsense or just floaty squids with pew pew guns that are a big deal; or they’re just the foot soldiers of the Precursors.

I mean, you answered your own question. Impossible also because Metal Gear has a formula and cloud gaming doesn’t really mesh with that

I was talking about the films/MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe) simply to bring up a point, I wasn’t talking about the Spider-Man games at all but still, without Sony saying so, Spider-Man would not be in the MCU right now, kind of like how there will not be another Metal Gear or Silent Hill unless Konami says so. And Sony has tried to buy out Konami and the Silent Hill/Metal Gear franchises but they won’t sell. I also highly doubt Microsoft is going to make anything Metal Gear or Silent Hill without Konami’s involvement or blessing and I also highly doubt Kojima is going to work on Halo.

That is the most hyperbolic thread title ive seen in a while.
And thats saying something on this site.
Calm down guys.
There was quite literally absolutely no cause to expect anything halo related at this event.
Not a single cause.
