No Halo @ Xbox Showcase is a huge red flag

The content of halo can easily distract the audience. This diversion is bad for both games.
There is simply no new content, and outsourcing a promotional animation will not impose much burden on the 343i’s business. The publicity map of the season 3 is even the one of the season 1.
This absence will obviously cause dissatisfaction among halo players, and this dissatisfaction will also lead to hot topics.
The more disappointed you are, the less you expect. People will be happier when big projects come out.

indeed, either that or they simply know they wont make money from their failure of an attempt. I’d just rather they came out and said it so we can all move on. I expect them to try again after Infinite no doubt because it’s an amazing franchise but they very much want this particular iteration of it dead

I actually feel bad for Staten having his name tied to this beta. I don’t believe he even knows what to do with infinite having to take on the huge mess 343 created for him, and the developers working on Infinite.

Even though I don’t post a lot of positive feedback for obvious reasons I don’t want to see the game die, but I refuse to play a game that is being treated only as business instead of a company creating a game. All I know at this point, and Microsoft better do this soon, is that they need to wake up and smell the coffee. Halo is not a game that was ever meant to be treated as a business, let alone a live service game especially since it’s getting close to a year, and they haven’t even come anywhere near close to creating enough content to ever call this “a live service game”.

The original Bungie had it right, and 343 at this point has it all wrong.

At this point 343i has been grossly negligent with the Halo series. I don’t have anything postive to say because i’m constantly watching my childhood being ran through the ringer.

Halo Infinite wasn’t just unfinished, It was and still is a complete mess. When the community asked what was going on they left us in the dark about the state of the game. We haven’t even heard them directly apologize to the player base for this.

They waited till the last possible second to tell us how atrocious Season 2 would be and i find myself asking why do i even bother? the answer has always been nostalgia. Maybe this time 343i will get it right. I’m pretty confident you could make better decisions throwing darts at a board then 343i is currently making.

It’s getting to the point where the Halo brand is going to.be damaged beyond repair.

  • Halo 4 was bad

  • Halo 5 was bad

  • Halo Master Chief Collection was completely broken.

  • Halo Infinite is an embarrassment

As a fan for 20 years i genuinely feel taken advantage of. And yeah it’s just a game but like its the game that revolutionized gaming. The game that sparked so many friendships.

They don’t understand Halo at a fundamental level and it shows.

Forza isn’t an indie game…
(but that’s not what you meant right?)

Halo Infinite came out just over half a year ago. I don’t know why anyone would’ve expected anything Halo Infinite to be at this. I wouldn’t expect any campaign expansion content until at least a couple of years post release so maybe we’ll hear about that in 2024 and I don’t think an upcoming season would be worth spending time on in such an event.

Seriously How hard would it of been to have a small team grab any map from any past halo, render it into the infinite engine, get that done for this showcase and then Staten takes the stage and says something like. Hey everyone, this map is now available online for free. Enjoy.

Something like that would have gone a long way.

I mean you don’t need to plan or concept anything, there’s a vast variety of maps to pull from. Its simply a case of remaking them in the slip space engine. I recon a team of designers could smash out one map remake a week, easy.

I believe a lot of players feel this way.

IMO if 343 actually followed through with their own words of what they “claimed” Infinite was to be, things might have been better, at least something I could have been able to work with.

It really is sad I will agree. I logged on to play a couple matches of ranked and the game just felt dead. One match was a 4 v. 2 situation and the other a 4 v. 3. No one really cares anymore. Its sad to see what has come of Halo.

At this point in halo 3s life cycle we had 7 new maps. Halo 4 we had 9. We’ve gotten 2 maps in an 8 month timeframe with a small handful of fixes in the few updates there has been. Some fans are insane I’ll give you that but the lack of meaningful content and no signs of progress is disturbing.

Or maybe I wasn’t interested in any of the games that were shown except for Forza Motorsport, just because I wasn’t interested, doesn’t mean I’m So Attached to Halo by your logic

For real, it was a huge disappointment to not get a teaser for forge or something S3 related.
I’m sure they got something, I just think they are very careful showing stuff since they showed the campaign in 2019 with not so good graphics and got huge backlash.
They basically hve said after the backlash that they want to be sure that what they are showing is top quality.
So, they may have stuff ready to show but they feel it’s not ready to be shown.

It’s still a letdown tho. They could have said or tweeted something like: «we know people want to see more Halo, but we don’t have anything to show yet. But we have a small 2min teaser for forge.»

Would have been nice to get some heads-up.
Guess they don’t like the Halo fans.

Trying?

They’ve already did it. Halo right now is no longer the household title it was 20 years ago. Apex and Fortnite is only getting bigger and Halo is only getting more and more niche. It’s so ironic how many shooters tried to be “HALO KILLERS” over the years and ultimately the one to kill Halo was 343i, a studio created to ensure Halo’s legacy.

Aptly fitting name for this studio no? 343 Guilty Spark being the one to shoot Sgt. Johnson in the back. It’s all so beautifully poetic, if it weren’t so sad.

Sony even showed TLOU 2 DLC. TLOU 2!. Who plays that game after what they did with the story and they are still making and showing content. A teaser or confirmation for this new tatanka mode would have been a lot better. They teased the Kojima collab on a new game. Why couldn’t they do something for Halo

Yes and no. There’s nothing huge in the can for 343i to show, so anything that they did bring would’ve likely been recieved as underwhelming. A no show might’ve been deemed preferable to the blowback that would’ve come from a very vague S3 ad or even a small Forge preview.

If 343i really is “heads down” working on QOL improvements and the feature additions advertised to come around the time Season 3 of Infinite launches, I say that it’s a good thing that they didn’t waste time and resources bringing something to the showcase. Their hard work really has to reflect in a serious upgrade in quality and in the amount of content coming to this game in S3, though; it’s been a very rocky first year for Infinite and it needs to end on a higher note.

Halo’s absence from the showcase will be forgotten entirely if Season 3 can really (finally) get this game on track.

Further proof that 343 Industries cannot grasp the mantle of responsibility of the Halo series…

On the plus side; it could mean that what they have planned isn’t really ready for the hype that typically comes with newer teasers and announcements and do not want yet another massive hype-to-dissapointment fiasco. Infinite’s Multiplayer still stinks of that mess they made.

Blockquote
“I told you not to go inside for good reason! Secure the breach, clean up your mess. I will be waiting for you when you are done!” ~ Atriox (at the end of Awakening the Nightmare DLC)

But something tells me the Halo TV show also screwed them up too, given how it was received…

I dunno… But whatever the reason if 343 still cannot get their heads out of the graveminds mouth (blarg you, auto-censors!) then expect the death of the series as a whole.

The big disappointment to me was absolutely no campaign showing. If the whole point of Infinite and the Slipspace engine is to release content more often, then not getting any campaign expansion this winter is a big issue. At this point I’d much rather just get a full complete and amazing game every three years instead of this weird ftp monetization scheme with an empty campaign

At this point…. I’ve pretty much stopped playing. When they get forge in and have infection put on matchmaking then I’ll play again
