Yep, there is no custom game lobby chat. You wan’t to take to your friends in the customs lobby? Then make a party chat.
There’s no lobby chat because the dedicated servers don’t start up until the game does (hence why you can hear people talk when the game is loading, after it starts up the server). There isn’t really a way to fix this aside from starting the server up when you first create a lobby. You could do it in previous Halo’s because it used somebody’s connection as host, not a server, so it started as soon as they created a lobby (which is also why when the host left in the lobby it’d create a bunch of lag)

The easier way to fix it would just be anyone who joins up together in a fire team gets automatically placed in a party.
