No Gore = No Flood

Not having Gore In the US ESRB rating means there will be no flood.

The data mined voice lines were just multiplayer voice lines for the infection game mode.
Idk what the heck the data mined model was but if you dont have gore you cant have putrid zombies.

I am severely disappointed but that is just par for the course lately for me i guess.

This whole “rating = x” argument is so overdone at this point.

A game doesn’t have to have gore or a mature rating or whatever else to have the flood in it or anything if that sort.
There are plenty of fantastic games that don’t compromise enemy types etc and fall under T or lower age ratings.

Halo hasn’t exactly been a horror franchise for the last 20 years has it? The game will be fine with whatever rating is has now.

A higher age rating doesn’t make a game any better. It never has and isn’t a huge contributing factor to a games success.
I feel like you’re weighing so much importance on something that’s pretty small in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah I find it funny when people pretend CE or 2 or 3 were like Dark Souls or something… Halo has always been on the lighter side.

If your game never focused on blood and gore, do we really need blood and gore?
Still, blood spurts and some blood textures left over does help with gameplay immersion and shootouts.

Not looking for CE levels of painting the floor with blood, but at least some feedback that my target was shot and bled at X location does help the player to register the effectiveness of their shots.

To be fair the only gory part of the Flood were when they transformed another organism into a Flood specimen or when you shotgunned one and it ripped into shreds. While I would say the transformation aspect of the Flood it important to what the Flood are, since their whole purpose of existence is to transform other organisms in order to survive and spread the Flood. That could easily be avoided by just not having people transform into the Flood directly on screen. The other part about them tearing to shreds once you shoot one is less important to me although I think that falls into the same boat as blood splatter and other things of that nature which I know is pretty important to some. I think the Flood is definitely doable in a Teen rating as I never got the overwhelming sense that Halo was really an M rated game to begin with even with the Flood present.

I am still holding hope that they will return. I know the T rating is disappointing but hey, Halo Wars 2 had the flood at a T rating and if done right, I bet Infinite can portray them just as well and terrifying without having to bump the rating up to M. I am hoping at least. Fingers crossed!

We already have the banished, the created and the new enemy race to deal with. I think Throwing the flood in the game would just be a bit much at the moment. They might be an enemy in the future though, this game does have a 10 year life span… if it does well enough to last that long

If Halo has taught me anything, it’s that multi-sided battles are friggin’ awesome. Two Betrayals, Keyes, High Charity… I want this campaign to be chaotic.

You’re not wrong. But the story is already in a sticky situation because of the awful writing in Halo 5, adding another faction into the mix at this point will make the story ridiculously hard to follow. Plus the flood, as the were described in the Forerunner trilogy, would seem to be more of an end game enemy that all factions for the Halo Universe will have to come to together and deal with

blood splatters on some surfaces and exploding flood is all the halo games have ever had. There’s never been human gibs or blood spray or excessive gore. It’s always been not too much and just the right amount. not too violent but still action packed.

this ain’t doom, wolfenstein or quake.

Honestly unless they up the ante with Flood transformation and Flood gibbing, we could keep a T or E rating anyway.
Flood dismemberment is almost comical, even in the most updated version of the Flood, namely Halo 2A. The bodypart just woops and drops off in a small puff of spores.

Destroying bodies isn’t overly graphic too : they simply just fall apart after a melee, with only a puff of Flood spores.

Now what I would consider actually grotesque is Halo 3’s Flood, and not because of gore, but because of Body Horror.

I don’t see how no gore or blood means no flood. I don’t think including the flood would bring the game up to rated M. I’m hapoy they are keeping a tight lid on the flood if they are returning in infinite. I do however they will be in future DLC/games on the infinite platform

Also old halo cracked jokes all the same as the more recent stuff. Im firm in the belief that “i thought you’d be taller” is harmless banter that people assumed meant something it didnt.

The ESRB followed different rating guidelines in the early 2000s than they do today. Regardless of whether or not Halo Infinite employs large quantities of blood puddles, the possibility of the Flood is not ruled out inherently. We’ll just have to see in December.

Idk guys, ex-humans with necks twisted all over the place seems pretty gory to me

Luckily ESRB ratings don’t apply to DLC, only the main game. The DLC can be M-rated, so there’s an opp there for flood reintroduction. Plus Halo was always an incredible soft M-rating.

But seriously, why can’t they just bring back the flood already? I don’t get what’s so hard about it for 343i.

STOP WITH THE BS SAYING THAT FLOOD CANT BE IN THE GAME BECAUSE ITS RATED T. That is not a valid argument. They could easily just tone down the flood and make it less “zombie” and more “fungal/parasitic” Everyone please look at the Hive in Destiny 1. They are just as creepy as the Flood just with a bit less gore. If the flood dont show in the game it is not because its rated T. Flood does not mean rated M folks… Sheesh.

i never understood why halo was M anyways. i just hope the flood returns and the they are amazing!!!

This is my point. It’s not the rating itself it’s the content. If you define flood its parasite of transfiguring humans and other organism into a monstrous contorted, has rotten blood and flesh being whose goal is spread and collect enough copses to make a massive leader.

I just don’t believe you can have flood without the gore in the rating. I believe CE 2 and 3 should have been rated T but they all had gore in the rating which other halo games didn’t always have when flood were not present.

Don’t go and get my hopes up lol. while I don’t believe you can have flood with the rotting flesh and blood, corpse collecting, and gibs (Gibs are basically one of the definitions of gore), you could be right. Regardless, the only way I see the flood returning is not through an update to base game but 343 somehow making a DLC with a separate rating than the base game. I have no idea if precedent exists in other games to confirm the possibility.

I think Halo Wars2 got away with it because we weren’t up close. And I don’t think there were any human flood in comparison to halo wars 1. Were there?
