…Built into standard matchmaking. Please 343 Indistries. Please do not let us all have a huge Deja Vu moment reminding us of Reach. Reach was great and all, but when 80% of the maps had the same architecture and landscape, it just became dull and boring.
Make a SEPERATE playlist that caters to experiencing custom maps. Do not start mixing the original maps/DLC maps with the Forged maps. I beg of you.
Other than that, I applaud you for everything you’ve accompished with this game.
I actually liked the Forge World maps in matchmaking. There were plenty of gems, and I was pretty amazed at how they could turn familiar environments unfamiliar.
Besides, it’s nice to have some fresh maps every once in a while instead of the same built-in maps the games’ whole lifetime.
while Gray was boring in Reach, adding new maps with new variety, was very nice. and I paid more attention to Gameplay than I actually did on the gray, lots of maps look very nice even with the gray, but overall Gameplay matters more to me than one single color.
besides, there’s 3 Forge World maps now. meaning 3 different map looks/variety. don’t worry, Gray is not all you will be seeing.

Wasn’t aware of that, thanks. Bit I still stand by my point, I don’t want matchmaking to be bathed in custom maps, i’d much rather have a seperate playlist.
There will be, most likely in a community playlist. I would be ok with an occasional forged map in the general matchmaking near the end after we get all of our DLC. But there should be no forged maps in the beginning to encourage people to buy the DLC.
We should at least have 1 default map for each of the 3 that is in standard MM that works in all the gametypes in the playlist they are in.
Community maps and gametypes should be in a separate playlist on the whole.
The only way I would be okay with more is if gave us a map pack of sorts to tide us over until new DLC drops. If they treated them like new maps without having to build new assets and worked on the fiction and design like they would with the DLC I would be okay with it.
Say each Forging environment had one default layout like the Halo 3 forge able maps
Forge 1: Smaller map with standard gametypes
Forge 2: Mid-size map that may or may not have limited vehicle use
Forge 3: BTB size map
Now I would mind seeing a free “Map Pack” featuring all new types of maps and layouts for each Forge World.
Halo 4 release->“Map Pack 1”->DLC 1->“Map Pack 2”->DLC 2->…
While Forge map 3 originally was a BTB map, Forge 3 in MP 1 would be a small slayer/objective focused map, while Forge 3 in MP 2 would be a mid sized map, you get the idea.
I do hope we get new forging environments in the DLC though with unique pallets like we did in Halo 3

I honestly kinda feel that’s why nobody bought DLC.
I’d rather have 10 normal maps and 10 equally fun, yet visibly unappealing ones than just 10 maps. That would get stale fast. What’s the point of an incredibly in-depth map editor if we’re not even going to play the maps competitively?
> > Do the 9 default maps in Halo 4 include the 3 forge maps or is there really 12 maps?

> I thought there were 10 default maps. Either way, I don’t think the Forge Worlds counted, so yes.
It could be 10 i’m not sure but I hope you’re right.
