starting with 3, Halo has always had some kind of tertiary or even quaternary main mode complementing campaign and multiplayer. 3 introduced forge, Reach added firefight, 4 swapped firefight for spartan ops, and 5 swapped that for warzone but didn’t get forge until later.
each of these modes existed to offer the player a unique experience outside of the core game. firefight was a fully customizable horde mode, warzone combined PvE and PvP with the most chaotic Halo sandbox to date, and forge unlocks potentially endless replayability.
without anything to do outside campaign and the base multiplayer modes for 3 months until forge comes out, I feel like this game’s population is going to tank pretty hard. fingers crossed that 343i has something up their sleeves.
I don’t see the multiplayer changing much on December 8th, but I hope the campaign is robust enough to make up for it and blow people away. Right now the game is pretty bare bones. Not too dissimilar from Halo 5’s launch. At least they didn’t disrespect Big Team Battle like Halo 5 did though.
A Halo campaign that you can’t play with your friends until 3 months after launch is not going to blow me away. They had all six years to create this game and we have less features than we had in all other halos and those were on a 3 year game cycle.
It seems this is just the new gaming norm with life service games. Launch a half baked game, sell all the kids cosmetics, and then down the road they will actual patch in the rest of the game once player retention fades.
I am 100% sure that we will be seeing a multitude of other modes (except for maybe warzone) with the game’s full launch. Also Forge was said to still be in the works as they wanted to make it as in depth as possible. Given how the last game provided scripting which procured some amazing custom games, I feel they’re probably working on some way to influence bot behaviors for these custom game modes and pathfinding around our custom maps.
I get your frustration about half baked games. But you an quell your outrage with me. This is a different kind of campaign and we don’t really know yet how dense it is. You have every right to be disappointed with the multiplayer offering, but calm yourself about the campaign until December 8th. It’s just a video game.
I have played the campaign with my brother for 20 years. You are telling me a game that had a 6 year game develop can’t launch with one of the staple features that made people love Halo?
I’ve said this repeatedly but I really hate to break this to you but this is the game that was going to get released on December 8th. The actual beta was back in August. And this is the full release game what-you-see-is-what-you-get. The only reason why they’re calling it a beta is for legal reasons because they released it early when they promised it to be delivered on December 8th. This is not a beta this is the full game this is the final product.
This isn’t a beta. We’ve already been told that this is all the content we’re going to have at “launch”, they’re selling microtransactions, your progress will roll over into the “release” version, the “beta” doesn’t have an end date, there are special reward unlocks and they’re going to be starting the first limited time challenge next week.
How people could think this is a beta boggles the mind.
They said there would be no forge until season 3. Yes season 3, coop comes in season 2, firefight might come later but for now just enjoy this early access
Ya 6 months will be to long, a season should be 3 to 4 months, seeing how they released this early i can see them starting the countdown on December 8th, currently I’m hearing may for season 2 which is 5 months which is way to long
Honestly this is worse than 2004, because we cant choose slayer if thats what we want to play, we can’t choose CTF or OddBall. What we have here is far more limited I highly doubt it is because of a “beta” remember guys the game was set to release around this time originally. So what we see is what we got.
