According to the October inside infinate and I quote, “We[343] didn’t want to pursue a full flying enemy as we found in an FPS flying enemies can get a little frustrating and disorienting as the player is forced to look up”. So does that mean there will be no flying enemies so how can a sentinel exist?
If what you said is true, then any sentinels in the game will not be hostile.

we already know this is untrue as we have seen a player fighting a sentinal in one of the vidocs (shown briefly on a screen).
I think this is more they dont want to make a new flying enemy type. So dont expect Yanme or a new species that is fully arial.

I think they we referring to Drones. Drones have been pretty lame enemies since 2. Fast-moving, hard to hit, low health, weak weapons, appear in swarms. They were basically crawlers with wings. Just something to waste your ammo on. Worst of all, they rarely appeared with other units.
Infinite has flying enemies. Jet pack Brutes (and maybe Elites), Banshees, and probably sentinels. Brutes and Elites are large, easy to hit targets, but they can still fight you on the ground via melee or grenades. And they can carry more varied weapons (Plasma rifles, Carbines, Brute Shots (yes I know these aren’t in/confirmed for Infinite)). Sentinels are slow-moving, and the S. Beam is easy to dodge, but in groups, dodging them becomes more like a dance of sorts. Remember the opening of Two Betrayals?
Sentinels also have some new guns (Cindershot, Heatwave). Maybe we’ll get a ground based sentinel.
As a side note, can we have the Enforcer back?
Flying enemies cause motion sickness for people while adding very little to gameplay.

I disagree, they provide a unique enemy type which requires players to be more agile in their movements to counteract, and frankly I believe it would be a mistake to not include them, as many notable enemy types throughout the franchise are flying. And frankly, doesn’t this apply to vehicles too? By this logic we shouldn’t have banshees or wasps.

banshees are large and relativly slow moving. Your taking this statement more broadly then it actually is. Its referring to Yanme like enemies which are small, quick and have 360 degree movement around the player. Yanme are notoriacly annoying to fight so making the skimmer a Yanme like enemy would be a poor design choice.

As I said earlier. Drones are just crawlers with wings. Not very fun.
There will be alot going on, and doubt I’ll notice much, or miss them. After the watchers in Halo 4 it kind of put me off flying things.
The Harbinger fly’s, so it’s not like there isn’t anything

Are skimmers not flying enemies?

What’s unique about aiming in the sky with fast moving enemies? You can disagree however this gates people from playing the game past a certain point. Banshees and wasps are slow moving and can be taken down by aiming at the path they are taking and not following them with your aim constantly.

If they can’t handle fast movement, why are they playing a shooter game? Personally I enjoyed fighting these kinds of enemies, and it’s frankly irritating to see something I like get taken away because someone else doesn’t.

The question is slightly ignorant. Gate keeping a large population who can’t handle disorientation because of fast moving enemies in the sky is simply bad design. Where is it required or stated you have to be able to play shooters fast? It is quite known that plenty of people hated playing against Yanme’e in Halo 2 regardless of feeling sick. It doesn’t add a layer of fun that is attractive to a large portion of players. Plenty of games have done this with bad results. It is frankly irritating that you are not inclusive to others who love playing Halo just for your own selfish reasons.

They are not. I would think of skimmers closer to that of crawlers from H4/H5. They are terrestrial so they remain close to the ground. They will use those wings to essentially hover and cover ground quickly. They wont actually fly like we saw Yanme (buggers) do in prior games.
So I guess Drones, Engineers, and even Sentinels won’t be enemies? That would really suck, I love that the Brutes are finally back in a Halo FPS after a 11 year hiatus, I was hoping the other ‘forgotten’ enemies/species would also get the same treatment, I guess not.
I actually think flying enemies are a fantastic addition to the Halo sandbox, it forces the player to approach encounters differently as flying enemies can quickly surround you and engage you from just about any conceivable angle.

But you are doing the same are you not? By excluding the large group who want that exact gameplay and have no reason to not expect it with most halo games featuring a unit to provide it thus far it isn’t all that exclusionary for the community. I don’t see how dealing with crawlers os soldiers is any different either as it requires the same skill set .
