No firefight mode for Halo 4?

Ive been looking around the forums, but I cant find anything on a firefight mode for Halo 4. Plenty on spartan ops, infinity slayer and other multiplayer modes, but nothing on a firefight.

I guess there isn’t going to be one in Halo 4, which sucks. I really liked firefight.

Where ya been? We have Spartan Ops to scratch that itch now.

Spartan Ops is kind of like Firefight but with an actual story

Yeah, but, spartan ops end, where as a firefight match can go on for as long as the players want in custom matches.

Spartan Ops is pretty much not Firefight, but it has a story.

Good riddance

I’m kinda glad they did away with Firefight, you can only do so much with it. To play it just pop in Reach and customize it however you like. That’s about as much evolving they could have done with it. It plateaued in my opinion.

Except I always found killing waves after waves of enemy AI with no twist (Story wise) a bit dull .

They could do more, like they did with slayer. How about infinity firefight? Package drops for x amount of kills, a mix of promethian and covenant enemes in each wave, possibly even some flood?

As for story line, the firefight on the infinity could be another method of training the spartan 4’s. They can only learn so much from beating the snot out of eachother, they need to face off against the enemies in training as well. Actually, firefight makes more sense for halo 4 than it did in reach.

You can replay the Spartan ops missions if you so choose.
Firefight gets really really boring after about 15 minutes of non stop rocket launcher/FRG.

Well, thats with firefight arcade. I mean more like traditional firefire, like ODST’s firefight. Limited ammo, limited lives, seeming unlimited waves of enemies. THAT is the firefight Im talking about.

Then play ODST firefight. Spartan Ops will have some firefight esque missions, and I think its better than firefight.

I loved firefight too, but theres not a whole lot they could have done to improve on Reach’s firefight. Yes they could add one or two more things, but I think Spartan Ops will be a better success than just another firefight.

It is too bad that Firefight is gone by the way side, I know a few people who really loved the grind of a long firefight match. However I think 343 ran the stats and found that it was mostly used to grind challenges or commendations and nothing more. It wasn’t getting the kind of attention from the community they wanted so they decided to switch it up. I am fine with it as after ODST I was not a huge fan of Firefight, however I feel for the people that are and are losing it now. Just another one of the various “growing pains” that fans of the Halo series have to endure.

Eventually, the spartan ops missions will run out. 5 missions a week for 10 weeks, thats 50 missions. That may seem like a lot, but eventually they will get stale and repetitive, especially when people learn the fights. Those missions cannot be customized, save for the difficulty.

A lot could be done with firefight still. Allow for players to customize each wave, what spawns, what weapons they carry, what bonuses drop, what weapons are pre-set on the map, and lets not for get the ability to forge firefight maps, something reach did not allow for.

So, yes, there was ALOT that could still have been done with firefight.

The 50 missions your describing is just 1 season. Theres going to be multiple season of Spartan Ops.

And to be honest Im buying Halo 4 for a new experience, not recycled gametypes. I still love traditional Halo, but myself and others want to have new things as well.

Dont get me wrong, I still like firefight. Its just too bland now and I like where there going with Spartan Ops.

Then you must really hate slayer, because thats been around since halo 1 and has been recycled through all of the halo FPS games.

Firefight still as a lot of potential, all it takes is some creativity. I came up with my ideas for FF in less than a minute. It should be even easier for 343.

I think what it comes down to is a limited amount of time. I mean halo 4 has a campaign Spartan ops multiplayer and forge. Also they created an entire new class of enemy. I think they wisely chose to drop FF. FF was fun to be sure I loved playing limited in reach but really Spartan ops is just better because there will be allot more to do. Think about it Spartan ops is going to be 50 missions that’s 50 different environments to go through how many ff maps where there?

I said I still love traditional Halo. And sorry to burst your bubble but firefight is not traditional Halo. Im talking Halo 1-3, not ODST and on. Also firefight takes up a lot of space of the disc, and they already have 2 discs for Halo 4.

Firefight might have potential, but Spartan Ops has more. Thats why they went with Spartan Ops.

You would honestly rather fight the same things over and over and over and over again off the same map than have another campaign that is designed for 4 players?

Campaign is predictable and can be boiled down to one successful strategy because the same thing happens each time following scripted events. Firefight is random and forces player to adapt to being overrun and out gunned. Add in lives, limited ammo and weapons and countless waves of enemies, youve got a challenging game type that can provide hours of enjoyable gameplay.

Im not saying dont have spartan ops. Its a good expansion for the campaign. But firefight is the survival mode that offers unpredictable challenges for players to endure and conquer.

I really don’t see the point in this firefight will not be in halo 4.
