No female Spartan option?

Agree, and going farther for those complaining, instead of 2 genders leave only female, if it is not that important why bother with a male spartan at all

> I agree with this, there needs to be female representation in the game. If one of the body types is suppose to be a women then why do all the voice options sound like men? I don’t think having different body types make much difference if they all sound like guys. This does not sit well with me that this early build only included bodies and male voices (of which there are plenty) by default. This is a good example of making part of your player base feel like they were an afterthought. I sincerely hope 343 reads this and takes this into serious consideration. There should be some decent body (enough of a difference that not every spartan looks the same) and voice options available for women upon release of the game. Many of replies in this feedback thread are both needlessly dismissive and patronizing. It doesn’t matter if this isn’t the type of thing we are “suppose” to be giving feedback for. Plenty of other threads are giving feedback on things of this nature and otherwise and I don’t see this kind of response to those threads.

We already KNOW we’re getting this stuff!

This is a technical preview, inclusion for women couldn’t be lower on the list of priorities for the purpose of the flight when we already know we’re getting access to voice customisation in the full game.

If you feel like an afterthought even with this context and information and the already present inclusion of a female body type and audible female voices in Spartan chatter, showing that female voices already exist (and we know we can edit how we sound on release) then you just want to have something to complain about.

The responses are dismissive because this os a non-issue. You’re already confirmed to get what you want.

Yeah its the FIRST smallest tech flight it females was not included in this build they WILL HAVE FEMALE SPARTANS! This flight at the least amount of content to work with even the XP doesnt work properly nor does sliding or climbing walls or even playing the game doesnt work LOL.

Inclusion for women was lower on the list of priorities then extra body types, different voice options, shaders, customization options they told us they wanted us to play around with? I don’t feel like an afterthought my body type and voice was included in the game by default but nice assumption. Why do you care so much about some legitimate feedback this lady is giving? There have been plenty of other threads discussing issues that have nothing to do with bot-matches and technical issues. I’m not seeing the same backlash to those threads this one is receiving.

Extra body types, of which one is obvious female. Which is inclusion for women. We can’t choose different voice options yet, (though we can guess the spartans we can hear through the game are our options which includes women) clearly you haven t even played the flight.

Its the furthest thing from legitmate feedback. As far as giving this thread more attention than others? Because we already know we’re getting what they are whinging about. This ‘feedback’ is mental gymnastics.

There are a bunch of different spartan voices to preview on the mobile (all of which are male.) I have been actively playing the flight since Friday. It is not the furthest thing from legitimate feedback. I don’t think it is wise to make assumptions about what we are getting, if someone thinks something is lacking in the game now is the time to give that feedback sooner then later.

Crying about being an afterthought based on evidence from a app BETA when women have been included since 2007 is victim olympics. Yes, most of the testable materials are by majority for the larger demographic which is men.

The ‘feedback’ is hyperbolic and silly

Women deserve full and equal representation in this game but this thread is ridiculous.

Why even have gender options? Just include body types that reflect a range of people and voices so people can be who they are? Want a stocky body with a “female” voice? Go for it. Representation matters.

As for why they’re not in the build it’s unfortunate but this is not the full content of the game. I’m sure we’ll see them in future tech previews.

You realize this isn’t the full game right? If you look on the beta halo waypoint app (which we were all told about in the various messages they have given us via email, in-game, and on halo waypoint.) you’ll see that there is an option to change your voice. These options will eventually be in-game and I would expect they would come under the greyed-out menu in customization which is not yet available. There’s no place where they say exactly what your gender is and instead, they allow you to change your body shape and choose your voice (which is not yet in-game due to this game still being in development). This seems to me to be the most inclusive way possible to deal with genders.

Are you joking? Exactly what you described is currently in this build. The only thing not in the build is the ability to change your voice in-game and I would assume that will be under the currently greyed-out option in customization. If you want to change your voice, along with your emblem and tag you must use the waypoint beta app for now. As for changing your body type that’s in the customization menu in-game.

I thought it was but OP was calling out no female options which feels a little weird given it was there. I’m glad there is no overt male/female option. Just feels weird nowadays.

Nobody is crying my dude, people are giving feedback on what they’d like to see be included. Us guys may be the larger demographic sure but that doesn’t mean people can’t voice their concerns about inclusion now especially given that fact. I’ve seen threads by other users wondering if women are included in the game yet, it’s clear they can’t tell based on the small number of body types currently available to us. Maybe this thread could be a wake up to 343 to make sure there are body types in the game that are readable enough. The current lore states a lot of these spartan 4’s and beyond would have received their augmentations later down the line in their life and I would find it more realistic if the body types were a bit more obviously different from each other (shorter, taller, leaner, more muscular) then the current preview we have now where the waist is altered a bit. Body type option 1 could also be read as male or female as far as I’m concerned. That’s fine but I think there should be more variation then what there is now on upon release.

Just a friendly reminder that women are just as important and worthy of representation as men =)

While I understand your complaints about not having a female body/voice in the technical test is not to your liking. The entire purpose of this test is to make sure they can remove bugs and hoping the insiders can find some they didn’t see. We probably will see some more customization in a future open beta or at launch. Also by thinking all the body types are male only is bit misleading. Lore-wise female spartans were designed to be like Olympian athletes with extreme body augmentations.

Like talking to a brick wall, nothing in here is clearly lacking - not even in this build. There are evidently female voices for multiplayer. Its a non issue.

I can tell you now there will not be shorter or taller Spartans…I hope not, it’d mess with hitboxes. The only real difference between body option 1 and the old female models is the lack of a massive butt.

That’s it.

Nah what they did is made the armor make sense. Spartan 4s are so ubondant that armor would not be designed around their specific body, like SIIS and SIIIs. The armor would be a general shape that matches a small-medium-large system like real Kevlar vests. Rn we have Masculine, Feminine, and Neutral body types for our spartan. What we need are Feminine voices.

Not to mention how much they are hammering down the ‘express yourself with you spartan’ and that your spartan will ‘be an important character’ going forward. People of course will question it, we haven’t seen any female spartans at all so far, none in trailers or screenshots at all. The 3 body types change your waist barely. I should be able to look at a spartan and know it’s a female, was possible for the past 3 Halos.

Isnt there?? I swear I’ve heard female grunts and shouts?? I have a female cousin and she said, no the midlle option ( 1?) isnt one who gives female voices.
So Im not sure.

But yeah.
Body type and voice could be separate IMO.

First off, we know female Spartans have existed in the lore and in Halo. So let’s not all start pretending that there is some misogynist stuff going on. Yes, it’s legitimate to raise this question. This question popped in my head when I went to customize day 1. I figure its just a flight test, so they don’t have it with the dozens of other things they also don’t have. Understand women have a different body shape, which means more adjusting armor to 2 sets of models instead of 1. Why do multiple male options and not 1 of each? Because likely females will also have multiple options, and the same logic will be carried and reused on their models. Hence its important to practice on 1 model first, because then as you make changes you don’t need to worry about adapting multiple models. You can first get the core functionality down, than expand upon it. This would be the best approach even for developing and testing other models like Elites. Then when the art team finishes the other female models, you can just pop them right in because the functionality is polished.

WhY noT usE fEMalEs tHEN?!

Because females are not the majority of players. SORRY. I’m sure if they were, then they probably would have started with a girl. Also Many spartan characters and models for campaign are mostly male, and the art department has more samples and base models with those, making them a primary go to.

Also, they are covered head to toe in armor. How are you going to even tell? Unless now you want to sexualize women and make them all busty? If anything you just need voice options and body types. Which they already have, and even have one with a slim female sized waist.

There’s females in the flight. I hear their callout voices from time to time. Also, you can change your spartan body type, a few of them are female.
