In some interview (if not the update on the front page) 343 said Elites wont be in Halo (playable) yet something else will take it’s place to scratch that itch [indirect quote]
So, What do you think 343 could do to please those people?
My top 5 ideas_
1-Putting Elite A.I in Forge/ Customs
2-Making Knights playable instead
3-They are -Yoinking!- us and will release playable Elites after Aprils Fools day. AS a joke and gift.
4-There will be Spartan 2’s, 3s and 4’s. All with different stats in M.P to allow interesting Invasion and such.
5-They will be the 3 playable charachters in COOP campaign. Such as in Halo 3.
The few Elites and Covenant that will show up in campaign are a small splinter force of the Covenant Empire and will probably play a small and insignificant role in the story. Thus, if they barely show up in story mode and don’t show up in multiplayer, it’s unlikely 343 would bother to put them in custom games.
We would have found out by now if the Prometheans were playable at all. No, they are not “yoinking” us. There are no other Spartan II or III’s either. Invasion is also not going to be in Halo 4.
As much as I wish the Elites were still playable, having another species would go against what they have set up for now. You play as a SIV assigned to the Infinity, fighting other SIVs in training simulations. The only way any other races would fit in would be if they entered the training simulation as well. This could happen if Elites (or another species) join up with them.

Not true the elites in the simulation could be just that, a simulation programmed by a combat ai. Well we would be the ai ofc but as far as canon is concerned that would be the official story. Its not like when they die in these simulations they die in real life after all, its like theyre in the matrix nothing is real not even their spoons

I thought about that but it seems to me that the whole point of these simulations is that the Spartans are fighting other “living” beings. It’s supposed to be as life like as possible so I don’t see them using simulated Elites. I wouldn’t be bothered if they did (hell, I’d be happy) but I don’t see it happening.
The reason there are no playable Elites is because multiplayer is now canon. Multiplayer is the Spartan IVs training for Spartan Ops.
It wouldn’t make sense canonically for Elites to be running around during Spartan War Games on board the biggest and most important UNSC ship. ONI just wouldn’t consider putting Elites on there, no matter how “friendly” they seem.
That goes for Spartan Ops too.
Co-Op characters likely won’t be canon anymore. Nothing can work canonically. The Chief is alone on the Forward Unto Dawn. You can’t go to sleep alone and wake up with 3 Elites or Marines sitting next to you. They’re probably going to be Chief clones.
