No DLC playlist

why is there not a permanent DLC playlist for halo4?

Same reason other playlists with low populations are removed by 343. They take up hopper space and contribute to slower matchmaking times and laggy games due to a more divided (and already small) game population.

Another main reason is because the map packs are designed for different sized gametypes: Crimson and Castle for large sized teams, Majestic and Bullseye for small teams.
You can’t play and 8v8 game on a map made specifically for 4v4 and vice versa, since the games would be unplayable. At best there could be 2 DLC playlists, but that would refer back to my first point.

Agreed Phil. For people who are late to the party and have GOTY editions, they must feel a bit ripped off they can’t play the maps they have on their HDD.

It would be a dead playlist in a dead game.

> It would be a dead playlist in a dead game.

If it’s a dead game, then why do I always find a game is less than a minute? And about 90% of the time it isn’t join in progress. Doesn’t seem dead to me.

> It would be a dead playlist in a dead game.

What I don’t understand is how people complain that Halo 4 is a dead game simply because it isn’t always in the top ten games for Xbox Live. If you think of how many games have significantly less population than Halo 4, one would realize it’s much more alive than everyone seems to imply. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, while I think a DLC playlist would be awesome, there are certainly limitations to what can be done with it. Personally, I think that the Matchmaking filters need to be what they were in Heavies, where you could get DLC maps in a non-DLC requirement playlist. :stuck_out_tongue:

Still don’t get why there can’t be a separate playlist for every game mode. Every other game that has multiplayer has that.

Because adding more playlists will further split up the already low population, causing longer search times for matchmaking and more laggy games.

No other FPS that is currently out has that problem though. Even the older games still have all their playlists intact. I get what you’re saying, it just doesn’t make sense when I compare it to other FPSs. You’d think they’d all work pretty similarly, but I guess not.

Well, I still look at Halo: Reach, and there are some playlists that I’d love to play in, but nobody plays, like Super Slayer. :stuck_out_tongue:

In fact, the only living playlists are the standard ones in that game and BTB. Those aren’t gametype specific to more than Halo 4. Halo 4 has more gametype specific playlists than Reach, though. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wouldn’t know since I stopped playing that a very long time ago. I was talking about every FPS multiplayer game from the past five or so years in general.
