No disk with the LCE

Rob confirms there will be no disk in the LCE editon of the game. But you’ll get a digital code early to pre-install the game. I do not like this at all and now makes me have to go and get a standard edition just for the disk alone.

I’m a little surprised and confused by this announcement as well, but it’s not that off-putting. All of these games require large files to be installed to the hard drive anyway. I guess I would rather have a X gigabyte game installed in my hard drive than a (X x .5) gigabyte install with a required disk. Oh well, I didn’t need the disk really I suppose  After all, I’ve had to buy multiple copies of H3 and Reach disks because I played them so much they quit working. Won’t have to do that again.

Edit: Who the hell is this Rob Semsey guy everyone is talking about? I’ve never heard of him before today lol and now he’s everywhere.

Why is the disc such a big deal to people? What you want is the physical box / steel case to display on your shelf, correct? And with a digital download, you never have to worry about putting the disc in your tray or removing it to play other games. It’s the best of both digital and physical world.

I don’t think I’m buying the LCE anymore because it isn’t worth $250. But the digital download + physical collectibles as opposed to disc + physical collectibles is actually one of the good things about the LCE.

I’m buying both the standard and LCE, along with the console if it ever gets officially announced. 10/10 would spend money again.

I just feel that this game will really be worth it I hope. I really hope it is.

I have had bad luck with digital downloads in the past. Ether they get corrupted or don’t download all the way. with a disk I don’t have to worry about that.

It’s more for the collector’s value than anything, I suppose.

Plus some of us still like to physically hold our games with our fingertips.

I like the steel cases. I still have my halo wars one (which is the best looking one right next to my battlefield 4 case and GTA V case) they are cool and neat to have and some are very hard to get.

Apparently the LCE will be shipping earlier than retail games so that you can preload the game for release night

Have to play Devil’s Advocate here… disks are much more likely to go bad. Even just overplaying my former Halo games like Reach and 3 the disks finally just became unreadable. Game downloads can be deleted and redownloaded and that fixes 99% of the problems in my experience.

I understand. But I like having the disk to hold. I might sound old fashion but I enjoy having the disks cause then if anything happens to my console I don’t have to go looking in my search history to redownload

I’ve never had an issue with any disc, and I’ve bought games since PS1… It’s all about taking care of them isn’t it?

No disc in the LCE is ridiculous.

agreeded

The tweet doesnt necessarily say that the game will not feature a disc. Just that a digital code is included

Which is disappointing considering that tweet was supposed to answer whether or not the LCE would have a disc.

Edited for clarity.

It means no disk harith

God -Yoink!- 343i or Microsoft. Not only is it a waste to have a steelbook now but i really dislike not having a disk.

Im kinda liking that fps are very disposable and switching out the disc umm no! most games actually have no real value unless you get rid of it within month of purchase  I can find a disc copy in bargain bin.Halo 3 Steele case caused discs to break so I amongst many others had to wait 3 weeks after release waiting for replacement disc
