No, Decreased Aim Assist is not causing your Aiming issues on Controller

There is still noticeable aim assist on every weapon, stop basing this “nonexistent aim assist” idea off of your attempts to spam the pistol and AR outside of their intended range. The actual problem with the aiming on controller is the response curve feeling unnatural. We need a modern aiming curve option plain and simple. Calls to increase aim assist is a band-aid solution that will do nothing to address the general clunky feeling to the aiming.

It also does not help that aim assist goes away if you touch your keyboard on PC. Have to boot up game in big picture.

Eh, don’t know why controller players even need the aim assist anyway? It seems like a crutch.

Because thumbsticks without some aim assist are the equivalent to aiming with a mouse that can’t go below 25,000 DPI.

So aiming with a standard none gaming mouse got it.

It is a crutch, but a necessary one.

Right, this is why there are so many 25,000 DPI mouse challenges from MnK pros on youtube. It clearly isn’t a challenge for you apparently lol.

Having done plenty of testing myself, aim assist is incredibly weak compared to past games, at least on console.

Have you ever even used a controller??? Shooters would be unplayable without it. Mouse and keyboard you have the full motions of your entire arm to aim. You can be precise. You can’t do that with a controller unless you’re some kind of savant.

Yes aim assist isn’t the issue however a lot of weapons need a damage buff to the sand box so they can stay on class with the AR and BR shredding everything….

I’ve also been saying the problem goes much deeper than aim assist since flight 1. The right stick just feels clunky to use compared to every other game I’ve played. Ramping AA way up isn’t gonna magically fix it, they need to fix the right stick controls all around. I shouldn’t have to strafe with my left stick to accurately line up shots like I did.

It’s like having classic aim on in MCC instead of modern.

This is the kind of uninformed opinion that makes games bad.

The most helpful part of AA is the slight sensitivity drop it provides which allows you to make micro adjustments more accurately by increasing the area within the stick to make those adjustments imo. It’s easy to make those kind of adjustments on a mouse since you have a whole desk to aim and an arm to accurately move it, on controller you’re stuck making movements that vary from a mm to a half inch with just your thumb.

I’m personally not a fan of the extreme bullet magnetism, or the crazy tracking that drags the reticle, that tracking has actually screwed up more of my shots than it’s helped over the years.

the AA in infinite also seems to be tied to framerate ive noticed. Ive used the controller on a xbox one at 30fps, a series s at 60 (ish) and my pc at 100+. Trying to aim with a controller on the OG xbox one was a nightmare, i was struggling just to land body shots, the aim was janky AF and couldnt get a feel for it at all. But on the PC at 100+ or even as low as 70-80 it became much better and much easier to land consistant head shots. It almost feels as if the AA falls off at low fps

Not really uninformed I feel like I am cheating anytime I use a controller do to the aim assist.

Tbf, this has always been a pretty core part of how to aim in halo.

Actually Steam controller settings were causing my issues, now controller is amazing.

Never for me and I’ve been playing since 04 or 05 and was a 50 in H3 MLG back in the day. I always use the left stick purely for movement, and strafe patterns to throw off opponent shots while my right stick was for lining up my own shots.

Yes it is uninformed. Controllers need aim assist because, unlike mice, their range of control is very limited.

It’s not cheating. It’s required. There’s no sensor to help controllers track movement so it’s much less accurate.
