I know the team didnt put in all this work on equipment customization just for it to be ruined by outlines. Imo, I cannot stand constant outlines, it looks ugly and it ruins the look of your gear. Below are a few suggestions to make it better.

Dynamic outlines, where outlines are only used in certain situations where the players cannot be seen.

Icon or Gamer tag above the player, this way you can have red and blue teams without altering the players gear color.
Battlefield and Destiny do a great job of making it easy to distinguish teams without red & blue armor or a constant outlines on the avatars.
