With the release of the most recent weekly update, 343i has stated that again, no good playlist will be added in the upcoming matchmaking update. We (Competitive players) must go another week with nothing but casual gametypes, which, are fun, but lack in the competitive aspect that made me love Halo in the first place.
This game is slowly dying for me. I love this game but, it’s for a casual gamer… Which I am not. I like playing some gametypes but I can only play for maybe an hour at a time now. At first I could play for hours on top of hours with out even realizing it. But, I continue to want to give it a chance to create a couple good memories like Halo 3 did. The grind of Halo 3’s ranking system and getting better at the game is what kept me coming back. Now, with Halo 4, it’s ‘How long can I play to get a higher rank that you?’.
And to address the new map pack. The video either didn’t do them justice, or Halo is really turning into Call of Duty. They maps are big in comparison to other Halo’s and the only map in Halo 4 right now that is small and symmetrical that makes for the most fun style of play (IMO) is Haven. I want to see smaller maps that can tend to a competitive nature.
Now, before you guys flame me, this is all MY opinion. I’m posting on here to see if anyone agrees with me. If there isn’t at least I got it out there.
> I just wish halo 4 was competitive out of the box
I was hoping that when it came out but I figured it wasn’t going to happen. And I’m giving 343i until February to make it competitive before I give up. Team snipers was a step in the right direction but with FFA throwback, that just about shot themselves in the foot on that one.
there is a huge demand for competitive gameplay but lets step back and look at it from a company stand point. we make a game to initially become profitable so that you & I can make a living for our families. pretty understandable. home, picket fence, nice car, family pet, ect. we look at the entire target audience, including competitive gamers. What percentage, as a whole, does this target encompass. With 150k only, sometimes 200k, how many are actually competitive gamers? most are recreational gamers, kids, young adults. Now don’t confuse competitive gamers with those of us that like competition, there is a difference. 343i’s target is casual gamers. there are more gamers that play to relax, unwind, have fun then there are who eat, sleep and breath competition. The money is not in competitive gamers. the money is in the kids who buy the lunch boxes and tshirts and tell mom & dad they want this game the matching Halo toy. There are tons of halo action figures, these marketed to competition, naw, they marketed to who will buy the product. kids and casual gamers. sorry bruh, it is what it is. if we get 1 or 2 playlists for hardcore fans consider us lucky.
BTW, not flaming just agreeing a serious playlist would be nice but we aren’t their target audience. we buy the game and call it a day. the kids buy the game and matching hat and tshirt and …you get the point.
Something that requires team work. And not just a ‘good team’ but things that require map control and good communication. Snipers was pretty solid at that. Team Regicide has some potential because you have to protect your king but it feels like a re-used version of VIP to me. The current ‘slayer’ playlists don’t offer up much competitiveness because you can just jump right in and slay your head off and probably win. Team work is the glue for a competitive playlist in my opinion.
This. And none of those shallow ‘well it’s not _____’ answers. I want somebody to explain themselves. Because a game that’s luck based wouldn’t have good players winning consistently, or a good team destroying a bad team 9/10 times.
This comment is idiotic.
Playing Halo 2 to level up and keep getting better was my favorite part of the game. The new ranking system is a way of showing how much you play and how much mountain dew you drink… I want some ranked playlists more than anything.
Not because I’m a try hard, but because without a ranking system there is no reason for me to play and little replay value to the game. Having no penalty for losing makes me not care about the game I’m playing as much, if at all…

its been said by 343i that CSR will be seen only on waypoint, not in game.

For me I would say Team Snipers and the MLG playlists. Also what made Halo 2 and 3 more competitive was a visible ranking. I don’t know what it is about that number next to peoples names, but boy does it get everyone playing like it is their last game of their life.

I have also read that it will only be visible on Waypoint which IMO opinion defeats half of the purpose of the 1-50 ranking system.

i agree the initial comment was not needed.
I feel you on you wanting a ranking system as do I but look at all the boosters and double account people made to get 50’s. they exploited the system. not their fault but any system in place can be exploit. Prison, as an extreme example only, is suppose to be lockdown facility, but there is a system in place that people exploit that gets them outside goodies, it happens, its a way of life. 343i decided that to avoid the exploits they wont include it which is there right as a developer. we are unhappy but i also see why they did it. if we buy the game we can play it how we want, to an extent obviously. but they decided to not let people boost up and worry about the “50”. i am done with hoping for a in game ranking system so I accept it as is, i have no choice.
