Idk about anyone else, but I can’t understand why this mechanic was added. I can’t tell you how many CQBs I’ve been in where I go to melee a guy, but he’s phased through me and is now behind me. I can’t stand it.
I’m yet to find this “split in the community” they refered in their outcomes blog, most people I’ve seen are thoroughly against the change, myself included.
Sometimes melee combat just feels awful in this game. Sometimes an enemy will do a melee lunge at me from ridiculously far away, but when I try to do the same it’s a swing and miss, and then they move into range and smack me while I’m trapped in my missed melee animation. The lack of collision makes things worse, as somebody with high sensitivity can phase through you and smack you before you can turn around and smack them, if you are playing at a somewhat lower sensitivity like I do.
Yeah, what a bad choice that almost nobody wanted to disable player collision .
I’m personally half and half on this.
I prefer having no collisions on allied players
But we need collisions on enemy players
I’m in the camp that the change is awful. Melee is probably one aspect of the game that I don’t enjoy as much as older Halo games, and it’s precisely because of collision.
