It’s very disappointing 343i is removing a fundamental part of Halo, that being friendly fire, player collision, explosive physics, and gravity hammer physics (maybe, yet to see them on vehicles.). (The gameplay that was shown yesterday only had vehicle collision, no player collision) Friendly fire and player collision forced you to be smart about how you play, ex. you couldn’t just point-blank fire your scorpion into a firefight because you could kill your teammate. The player collision also allowed for cool tricks by jumping and using one another. For those who will say “oh well I don’t like people blocking hallways, or being killed for weapons.” I personally think that’s part of the fun, but if you dislike it, it’s called reporting the player lmao. As we saw in the first flight, you also couldn’t rocket or nade jump, and the GRAVITY hammer didn’t affect gravity at all. I was hoping that was just a bot thing, but from that BTB gameplay, only vehicles have collisions, they still ran through other players and what not when on foot. Once again, 343i has made so many good decisions (gameplay-wise at least), it sucks they’ve removed this feature, without it the game feels a lot blander and less creative, since there’s no way to truly interact with others, the lack of it combined with the outlines makes the game feel cheap in a way. So, really hopeful over the weekend we can try vehicles and PvP, and we can let 343i know we need these core functions back in Halo. For comp. players who maybe don’t like these things, let’s be real the majority of players play social, and in comp. you could just turn those features off. 343i’s silence on the issue after the first flight, makes me think it wasn’t a bug and was intentional, so I really hope they hear us and can implement change before launch.
im fine with it. I always found it more annoying then beneficial. Sure there are some goofy stuff you wont be able to do (like standing on each others head). That being said, it never really played that much of an effect in game (outside of running into one another on man cannons). I think its removal is overall better for the health of the game. That being said, I would like it to be an option in custom games. Live game is neither here not there for me personally.
